Drake has spoken out about a mother and daughter who died following his concert in St. Louis earlier this month.

Laticha Bracero and Alyssa Cordova were killed in a road accident in the early hours of February 14 after a driver ran a red light and struck them following the rapper’s show at the Enterprise Center.

Footage of the incident showed the two women on a crosswalk when a car sped into view, going through a red light and running them over.

The women had just attended Drake’s concert, which was his second of two nights in St. Louis as part of his It’s All a Blur — Big As the What? Tour with J. Cole and Lil Durk.

During his tour stop at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York on Tuesday (February 27), Drake took a moment to pay tribute to Laticha and Alyssa.

“I don’t mean to dampen the mood but I saw a video today,” he said. “We had a show in St. Louis and a mother and her young daughter lost their lives leaving the show.

“I wanted to say to you that as happy as these moments are, right, you never know what somebody else’s reality will be when they walk out of this building.”

He added: “So for this moment that all of us are together, all 18,000 people, I want you to turn to somebody that you do not know. Not somebody that you came with.”

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said Laticha Bracero died at the scene and her daughter Alyssa passed away in hospital soon after. Other pedestrians were injured during the incident.

The driver has been identified Monte Henderson, who police say was speeding in his SUV for several blocks and already drove through several red lights.

The 22-year-old was arrested shortly after the crash and charged with two counts of armed criminal action and involuntary manslaughter after allegedly driving over 70mph.

Henderson was bonded out of prison after a judge rejected prosecutors’ request to keep him locked up, arguing he was a danger to the community.
