Drake has announced the release date for his new album For All the Dogs — and it has his father’s stamp of approval.
Drizzy took to Instagram on Wednesday (September 6) to reveal that his upcoming project will be released on September 22. His announcement was paired with throwback footage of his dad, Dennis Graham, performing in Toronto in 1991.
Graham reacted to the footage in the comments section, writing: “Awwwwwwww thank you Son 1991 Toronto Canada, seems like a hundred years ago, For All the Dogs.”
In a separate post on his own IG page, the 68-year-old musician called Drizzy’s new album “some of the best music that I’ve heard him do.”
“I had the pleasure of sitting in my Son’s dressing room and listening to this new album and I must say that it is some of the best music that I’ve heard him do, and I am sure that every Drake fan throughout the entire world is going feel this one,” he wrote.
“Everything about For All the Dogs is what we’ve been waiting for, Congratulations Son I really feel this one. September 22,2023.”
Drake shared his gratitude, commenting: “Thanks dad. I was so happy you loved it.”
Drake unveiled the cover art for For All the Dogs in August, enlisting his five-year-old son Adonis to design it.
“The song I did with Drake recently definitely put me in the feels, like when we used to be doing Nicki Minaj TV on the Lil Wayne tour and stuff,” she said in a recent TikTok livestream. “Fun times, right?”
While further details remain scarce, the 6 God has hinted that the project will satiate fans who are hungry for “the old Drake.”
“I made an album to go with the book,” he said in June while promoting his debut poetry book Titles Ruin Everything. “They say they miss the old Drake girl don’t tempt me. FOR ALL THE DOGS.”
During a performance in Chicago the following month, he told the crowd: “I got an album coming out soon for y’all. It’s called For All the Dogs. I always hear people talking about, ‘Damn, we miss that old Drake.’
“I understand what you mean. You need more music so that you can, you know, feel good about your new lover, shit on your exes, get fly, get drunk, show love to your family, show love to your friends.”
