Drake pal Top5 has been arrested by the Toronto police and charged with several offenses related to guns.
According to a news release put out by the Toronto Police Service, the T-dot rapper, real name Hassan Ali, was arrested on Friday (January 24).
He is facing six separate weapons-related charges: Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device; Possession of a Weapon; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized; and Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition.
His initial court appearance was scheduled for 10 A.M. on Saturday (January 25). No information on the proceeding was immediately available.
Earlier this month, Drake ignored Wack 100‘s stark warning to steer clear of Top5 as the two were seen attending a Toronto Raptors game together.
Top5, who recently beat a murder case with Drizzy’s help, posted a video on Instagram of him and the OVO Sound superstar walking to their seats during the Raptors’ 104-101 win over the Golden State Warriors on January 13.
The 25-year-old rapper captioned the post: “Me & twin @champagnepapi.”
It comes shortly after Wack 100 implied that he was in possession of incriminating evidence against Top5 and advised Drake to “get away” from him.
Speaking with No Jumper, the veteran music manager said: “Drake needs to get away from Top5. He’s bad news.”
Wack then held up a USB drive up to the camera and said: “This is how much respect I got for you, Drake. No troll, on Piru, you need to get away from that dude. This has been in existence for about 90 days and I have made sure it hasn’t [gone] anywhere, personally. I think you know what I’m talking about.
“That dude, with his mouth and the things he says, it does not support your career. I’m telling you as a brother … get the fuck away from Top5, bro. Remember, I’m warning Drake, he’s gonna have you hemmed up, caught up and cuffed up.”
He added: “Dude is reckless with his mouth, he ties you to things and he’s a dumbass.”
Top5 was released from jail last September after beating a first-degree murder charge related to the shooting death of a 20-year-old college student four years ago.
Police believe the victim, Hashim Omar Hashi, may have been wrongly targeted in a gang shooting.
After the case was dismissed due to various pieces of evidence being ruled inadmissible, it was revealed that Drake had helped to pay for the drill rapper’s lawyers.
“Shoutout big bro @champagnepapi for the Lawyer Fees & Gary Grill for being the best lawyer in Toronto #ALLAHUAKBAR,” Top5 wrote on Instagram, before editing his caption to remove any mention of the 6 God.
