Dr. Dre

As a rap artist Dr. Dre has always been associated with three things—chronic, lowriders and more chronic. But on his third and final album Detox, he wants to totally change people’s perception of his music. “I’m not talking about low riders and blunts and all that anymore”, Dre said at his studio recently. “I mean, that’s played. As a matter fact, I’m tired of hearing other people talk about it”.

Dre’s basis for his album Detox is to maintain the entire album following the life of a hit man. Though he’s still blueprinting his ideas, Dre plans to be consistent in following his character’s story line. “It’s about his family and how he makes his living. Everybody that appears on my album is going to be a character. So it’s basically going to be a hip hop musical”, Dre said who played the trigger-happy cop in Training Day.

Look for Detox in stores by the summer of 2003. “It’s probably going to take me like a year to get it all the way together”.
