Dr. Dre Relaunches Website, Used As A Platform To Preview Music

Hip Hop superstar Dr. Dre is a lot of things, but he’s never been a heavy Internet presence. The Compton, California producer/rapper and founder of Aftermath Entertainment is not known for tweeting, facebooking or doing many online interviews, but the icon’s DrDre.com website has been relaunched this week.

DrDre.com, a website owned by Dre and his legal staff since 1997 (according to online records) – a year after forming his Aftermath label, has sat dormant for several years. The site now provides a Soundcloud to “I Need A Doctor” , Dre’s Eminem-assisted second official single from long-awaited third solo album, Detox. The single’s official cover art also drives consumer’s to tomorrow (February 1, 2011) iTunes release date.

Other artists, such as Kanye West and Swizz Beatz, have launched or re-launched websites to provide fans with free streams and/or downloads to songs.

    HipHopDX will keep you updated.

    1. That i need a doctor track is more than horrible. Dre might wanna wait another 10 yrs before he drops this album.

    2. wow, 12 years and we get I need a doctor. I never doubted detox once before but right now im not seeing another classic from dre. Hopefully im wrong…

    3. I see what everyone’s saying. Where is the old hardcore west shit from the 90’s? I Need A Doctor is a nice track but it doesn’t have that real, Dre vibe to it. Detox, classic? I think not. But I know LASERS will be, and so will Super Cliente 2.

    4. I see why people would be mad. Dre used to innovate. His innovation damn near created a standard for a whole coast. The singles that he’s let out are in no way innovative. Just catchy. I Need a Dr. might not even be catchy. I haven’t been able to listen to it that much. The theme is corny as all hell and his lyrics don’t seem to convey a feeling that he’s really trying to get across. You would expect this album to be like the man’s third child. He would try to raise it up right along with the help of his Aftermath/Shady village. Instead it seems like a child that he’d been paying support for and decided to step into the life of b/c it seems like the right thing to do at this age in life. Just an opinion though.

    5. i think yall givin too much attention to dr. dre …

… and i dont understand why, cause obviously, he does not deserve it !

he aint the best producer of all time. he drops a new sound every fuckin decade and one time out of two it’s average.

the only reason why yall giving him so much props is because he reminds you the death row, west coast gangsta rap era. but this shit died in 2001.

plus dre would not be where he at right now if it was not for mark batson and mel-man. HE JUST TAKES SOMEONE ELSE’S BEAT AND REARRANGE IT A LITTLE BIT AND THEN ALLOCATE TO HIMSELF ALL THE CREDIT.

so stop this dickridin shit and support real artists and producers makin music every fuckin year and which works are worthy of your money

    6. Kush was okay (minus Akon)
Check Jay Rock on that same beat and say it ain’t dope..shit is banging

And please Dre, no INAD on Detox
The song is skipable and so not classic

    7. You can hardly call it a website, it’s just a flat image with an audio track on it. This was knocked up in 5 minutes.
Hardly a massive relaunch that you’d think it warrants!

    8. @ Joe336

      I wanna hear it (Detox)
Just hope it’s not gonna be a Delete-tox

Cause both of the Chronic albums are classics (with timeless music)

And it’s starting to look like that Detox is gonna be ”aight” album (for a few weeks/months?)

      I hope I’m wrong………big time
