Dr. Boyce Watkins has responded to a Tyler, The Creator diss. On Hot 97, the Odd Future rapper called Watkins a “bitch” and said the professor never reached out to him personally regarding a 2013 Mountain Dew ad. The beverage company pulled the advertisement that Watkins said promoted racism and sexism.
Watkins released a statement to AllHipHop responding to Tyler, the Creator‘s comments.
“I hold no ill will toward Tyler,” he says. “It seems that this experience two years ago still pains him, and I’m sorry to hear that. But he has to understand that the financial success of one Black man should never matter more than the well-being of the entire African-American community.
“But the offer is still open,” Watkins continues. “If Tyler wants to call me on the phone, I will greet this brother with open arms. The truth is that he and his inappropriate advertisement were casualties in the crossfire between me and Lil Wayne. We can’t support the feeding of poison to our people.”
Watkins also criticized Lil Wayne for his line on Future’s “Karate Chop (Remix)” where he said, “Beat that pussy up like Emmett Till.” Till was a Black teenager who was murdered for allegedly whistling at a white woman.

Fuck Boyce Watkins
I agree with Dr. Watkins. However, I would say he should be the bigger man and reach out to Tyler for a face to face. yet, Tyler did call him a bitch. Either way Tyler should get over this, but sometimes when your wrong (if Tyler is wrong, unbiased pov) it etches at your soul to where there is no “peace”.
why didnt boyce watkins contact lil wayne first or tyler the creator first? his first reacion was to write the article and post the article instead of contacting these people and talking to them man to man. i dont wanna place any judgement on either side but i think dr. watkins could improve in that regard.
I don’t know anything about the situation as I hate Wayne and Tyler’s music and do not regularly follow mainstream media but was this doctor famous at all before this? If not then I would imagine he would have a hard time getting in touch personally with either artist. Even if he managed to get their agent or whoever’s phone number they undoubtedly would not take him seriously and so Watkins would still have written the article and we would be in the same position, just a few months of negotiation between lawyers later. But again, I’d say that would only be the case if the doctor was a nobody before hand.
He didn’t know it was Tyler at first. He was outraged at the content, he didn’t know or care who did it.
Hold up ….did ge say ” no one black mans success shall be placed over the whole of the African American community” or something to that effect?….
He cant be fucking serious ….niggas all sound like the preacher till they caught showing they dicks to boys….foh
Fuck these fruitcake rappers.
