DNA, who recently released the song “Death of Battle Rap,” spoke with HipHopDX about why he feels Battle Rap is an important part of Hip Hop.
“I decided to write this record to bring more attention to Battle Rap because I feel it’s the truest form of Hip Hop right now,” DNA said in an exclusive statement to HipHopDX. “If it died tomorrow, real Hip Hop heads would be in a position where it would be hard for them to hear real lyrical content and I also put the record together to shed light that one day we all won’t be popular no more and [won’t] have people dying to watch us perform, so let’s embrace it and make the best out of it while we all the eyes on us.”
During the interview, DNA was also asked why he feels Battle Rap is the truest form of Hip Hop today.
“I feel like Battle Rap is the truest form of Hip Hop because artists are still being creative in this sport,” DNA says. “[Rappers] are being innovative. In the industry, it’s cooperate. They have suits and ties. Everything is planned out and there’s no creativity. It’s all the same stuff. In Battle Rap, it gives you that street corner, raw, gritty feel that Hip Hop used to have back in the ’90s.”
DNA is slated to have several battles in 2014, including a match-up in King of the Dot’s upcoming “Blackout 4.”
Today, Jack Thriller announced that he has been hired as the host of an upcoming Battle Rap reality television show headed by Eminem. Thriller posted the confirmation on his Instagram account and later deleted the post.

Battle rap was once the purest but know any suburban nerd can make up some dick jokes and become famous, just look at Grndtime and KOTD.
It’s all about the art form, not the skin tone. If you can spit you can spit.
I was always curious about the HipHopDX, Interscope, and KOTD relationship, and assumed they had a large influence on this website, and now it at makes sense
If you notice in the audio section on the 1st page, if their is an interscope artist(Kendrick, 50, Eminem etc), there single will stay at the top for a week, even if it isn’t a highly rated song, while all the other songs come and go. Sometimes these songs are posted twice in the list
If you notice, this site always has KOTD news, while other sites barely cover it. There are hardly any comments with these topics, which shows the true lack of interest from these readers, but its still constantly pushed down our throat
And with Eminem stating Dizaster was his favorite battler, Crooked I showing up to one of Dizasters battles, and Dizaster just said he just got off the phone with Royce(assuming its about this upcoming show)
To summarize, Interscope owns HipHopdx and KOTD, and this site pushes its agenda(as you can easily see in any Slaughterhouse article, where they keep repeating how it received 4.5 out of 5 to give the illusion that it was a success, when the consensus was it was a disappointment)

I’d consider classic music produced by Hip-Hop artists to be more important and influential than battle rappers. Just listen to this dude’s song on the article…underwhelming at best. Shit is too straightforward.
