DMX can’t seem to catch a break. After serving time in federal prison for tax evasion, the State of New York is now reportedly seeking almost $225,000 in back taxes from the Hip Hop legend.
According to Bossip, the state of New York’s Division of Taxation has filed a tax warrant against X, alleging he owes a total of $224,845 in state income taxes. X has had tax warrants from the state before. In 2018, the state issued a lien against him for $20,030.26 and again in 2014 for $230,409.74.
X’s longtime attorney Murray Richman doesn’t sound too worried about it, noting it isn’t a new set of unpaid taxes.
“That’s a state warrant arising out of the old case,” Richman reportedly said. “He’s been charged with a federal warrant years ago. This is the same case, but this is the state aspect of that warrant, that’s all. It’s not something new, it’s not for new acts at all.

“We’re working on resolving it. We will, of course, eventually resolve it, which we’ve done in the past because we resolved the IRS situation. We’ll work out a payment schedule, work out a real number and we’ll be there. Earl [Simmons] is not trying to avoid his responsibilities.”
The “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” rapper pleaded guilty to tax evasion in November 2017 and was sentenced to one year behind bars. He ultimately walked out of West Virginia’s Gilmer Federal Correctional Facility last year. He was also ordered by a judge to pay $2.3 million in restitution following the case.
I thought he signed a deal again with Def Jam last year? Someone give him a advance to to clear this tax sh!t up. Not many care about another album from him but I am one who does. Don’t care about him being cracked out or washed up, when X is focused he is one of the best and hope he can find a path to the booth and mic. I am not one to sh!t on someone because of their past transgressions because we all have some and internal demons we battle, X was just another that fell into that. Now Making 12 kids with 9 different woman (could be more) there is no excuse for that and maybe the judgement on him should be towards that and being a father. X if you are listening, pay your taxes and your child support and drop that album, leave the coke and pu$$Y alone, the lord will give you a sign or he gonna give it to you!

Poor man. Good person, but he’s been living in hell, pretty much his whole life. Money and fame didn’t change X one bit. Take this as a lesson of what hard drugs can do… First, hard drugs can give you the creative drive and power to create something special, especially music wise… Hard drugs have fueled some of the very best musicians of all time. Dnx, eminem, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, ect… Then, what happens? The inevitable crash. Whether it is death in your prime, getting sober, or never stopping, the music and work ethic suffers. Every artist that was doing certain drugs that helped them push their skill to new limits either burns out, gets sober, or dies. Those who burn out are like dmx. Those who get sober are like Eminem. Those who die, die in their prime, and are forever remembered as great artists. Drugs are interesting when it comes to music making…
X’s stans are funny. No matter how many times he fucks his life up they always find some excuse for it. Sorry but X is far away from being the goat or any legendary status yall givin to him. In a 22 years career, he only dropped seven albums, among which one is a classic, two others are good albums, and everything else is below average. Fuck it even the trio of trannies known as Migos have been more consistant than X in his whole career. The only reason why X’s stans follow him is because of his energy. But since 10 years now, his energy sounds more like a boiling crack cocaine mixture on a pipe than the anger he used to have everytime he spat on the mic.
