DMX Arrested in London

DMX has become the second rapper to be arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport after abusing airline staff onboard an American Airlines flight from New York to London.

The rapper refused to co-operate with airline staff on Saturday (May 13) and then verbally abused air stewards after being asked to fasten his seatbelt as the plane was about to start its descent on approaching London.

The flight’s captain called in the incident to Heathrow police, and the 35-year-old rapper, born Earl Simmons, was arrested once the plane landed.

A spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed that the rapper had been arrested, and was released with a caution.

This means that while DMX has escaped charges on this occasion, a record will be made in case of any future offences.

“The plane landed at approximately 12:15p.m. and a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being verbally abusive to cabin crew,” the spokesperson said.

“He was taken to the police station and later released with a caution.”

X is due to perform at a secret launch party in London on Tuesday.

This is the latest in a long list of run-ins with authorities.

X was sentenced to seven days in prison in 2005 after colliding with two cars whilst driving with a suspended licence, and received a 70-day sentence for driving with an invalid licence in a separate incident in December 2004.

DMX is set to release his new album, Year of the Dog, Again, later this year.
