Davis, California deejay and producer DJ Shadow will release some rare and unheard early recordings next month. Total Breakdown: Hidden Transmissions From The MPC Era, 1992-1996 will release on June 5, featuring compositions made on the Akai MPC sampling drum machine from the Quannum Projects/Solesides Records co-founder.
Several of the 24 tracks were first intended for a subsequently scapped 1994 EP with Blackalicious’ emcee Gift Of Gab, including the demo for what would become “Six Days” on Shadow’s 2002 album, The Private Press.
Last year, DJ Shadow released his latest studio album, The Less You Know, The Better on A&M Records. This year’s release comes on Shadow’s Reconstruction Productions.
