DJ Quik’s “Book Of David” Cover Art & Tracklisting Revealed

Legendary Compton, California producer/emcee DJ Quik has announced that he’s releasing his latest solo album, The Book of David, on April 20. The album partially takes its name from the veteran’s government name, David Blake. DubCNN.com reports that the longtime Profile Records star, who later found success at Arista and as a Death Row Records producer’s latest album will feature longtime collaborator Suga Free.

Book of David will reportedly include the new single, “Luv Of My Life” , featuring Gift Reynolds.

In 2009, Quik teamed with Kurupt to release BlaQKout on Mad Science Recordings. The producer for Tupac, Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg last released Trauma in 2005, in his solo catalog.

    1. DJ Quik> Dr Dre. Live instruments, no ghost producers, charisma on mic, more than two beats a year

I hope he has AMG, hi c , 2nd II None, etc on this one. That’s when he’s at his best

      1. yo ive been saying that for years quik is waaaaaaaay better than dre (who doesnt make his own beats BTW) And When he does you can always tell cause its weak ass boring beat that took too long to make just go listen to raekwon album but quik is that west coast sound of nice weather and good urb in the air people dont sleep HE DO HIS OWN BEATS. as far as dre for those that love him wait another ten years so he buy a collection of beats to put his name on. real heads know who dr. dre really is not born yesterday MAINSTREAM followers.shouts to quik r.i.p. mausberg

      2. I see Dre is finally starting to get that ass exposed huh? Most clowns will say Dr.Dre is the greatest producer of all time when he uses other to construct his shit. RFLMAO!!! Fuck outta here!!! Dre is highly overrated…He’s getting exposed which is why he keeps hiding out and won’t release Detox…Dre won’t release Detox because the truth is finally starting to come out about him that many are gonna be shocked by and what a wonderful way for DJ Quick to come out at a good time and let people know who was the real and true producer of the west coast doing it’s hey day up til now and why he keeps getting put on the back burner and not receiving the full legendary credit thanks to the worshiping of fake ass producers like Dr.Dre.

      3. I feel you and agree, but you can’t just discount what Dre does. Even Quik gives it up for him and his “ears.”

That sounds overrated, but to be able to take something that’s good, know what it needs, make it sound right, and turn it into a classic – that’s a gift too. Coaching vocals is producing too.

Dre may not be the greatest producer, but let’s say he’s the greatest engineer maybe lol

      4. Well it is staring to sound more like the DOC has a whole lot to do with the so called engineering process. One thing I have learned recently is dre has a lot more help than many of us have come to believe.

    2. man quik is getting better every album…i gotta get this album….this is that real “feel good” riding music, getting fucked up chillin with the boys, or your gal lol…just feel good boss thug can’t wait.

    3. i really liked that blaqkout album with kurupt that came out af ew years ago. quik came fresh as hell on that production and lyrics wise.

CREAM N YA PANTIES ASS IN THE AIR ALL NITE BABY POP THAT TWAT

    4. Tricknology at its finest see this guy walks around hollywood all day doing absolutely nothing proclaiming this so called legendary status of BEST PRODUCER but when people look for him to do work with he sooooooo busy. yeah right now i can understand people who jus sit around watchind b.e.t. getting mind fucked and listening to brainwash radio cause they dont know shit about hip hop or music in general jus looking for the next wack ass club single from some minstrel show artist tap dancing on some mantan garbage but its the people inside the industry that kill me cause i know they see it but they stay blinded on the surface level kissing his ass on some political brownnosing to add to his ego hoping to get a beat from him crap. lets keep it real dr. dre is a fake plain and simple like his beats. shouts to quik, daz, battlecat, evidence, madlib, georgia ann muldrow, exile,oh no,jake one, architect, flying lotus, afta 1,dibiase,chill,thes ones, sounds in society and countless others in the game that are better and MAKE THERE OWN BEATS.

      1. Good post, couldn’t agree more. Everyone is indeed being brainwashed by this bullshit on TV and the mind muimbing, zombie music in mainstream.

Need beats? Visit SparkzMusic (dot) com

      2. kill yourself.. quik may be my favorite artist of all time, but dre is a monster.. when you have a track record like dre you can charge 90,000 a beat and if you got that much you wouldnt be in a rush to make anything either.. he makes more off one beat than you do in 5 years cuz hes a perfectionist and ONLY puts out fire.. so get off his back for not making an album under your time constraints mr. nobody.. when the detox does drop its going to be just that, legendary..

      1. i agree since most female emcees, especially the ones that come all hard and street bug the shit out of me (remy ma), annoy the fuck out of me. but i always liked that e-40 track w/ her “sprinkle me” i think its called

      2. yea yea, and let me guess every other west coast artist is wack to huh? if a person had no game in them or relates to a square lifestyle, then yes, I could see how one wouldnt be able to relate to suga free.

      3. Ayo Eddie, Suga Free is a guy who had been rappin wit Quik for some years before they had beef but I guess they are cool now. You are thinkin of Suga T who is E-40’s sister.

      4. good looks gamechanja.!!! i realized i fucked that up. how the fuck did i do that i am embarrassed. but still no suga in my hip hoppers please, i dont care if its free. neither of the sugas been on shit for a while. once again tho’ thanks for settin that record straight bro

      5. dude! do you know suga free has worked with so much big famouse people! not cause he’s a clown but because he’s fucking one of the best! stupid haters!

    5. I’m looking forward to this album but where the fuck is Daz at?
I would also like to hear him & Luda back on a track!

    6. quik beenn around since 90 he git kk on here from 2nd to none, ice cube’s a legend suigafree is tight he works best with quik and the late garry shider is on here garry shider p funk vetb he played with george clinton from 1972 til his death last year quik was always a p funk fan.

    7. quik is the most UNAPPRECIATED producer in Hip hop History!!!!! every single one of his albums are consistent. Theres not a sound like DJ QUIK!!! i cant wait for 4/20!!!!!

    8. Been waiting for this for a minute. Hope it’s better than his last few projects (solo and with kurupt/AMG). They werent awful, but I miss that 90’s DJ Quick sound.

    9. Sounds like classic to me.

Bizzy bone on two tracks, its surprising and interesting. Cube back on the real west coast vibe, suga free & kurupt …nuff said

    10. funny so many people dropping there album’s on 4/20 dr dre whiz quick lol and if i was quick i would do a mixtape blended with all the best westcoast artist and add nate dogg to my album like a tribute song

      1. OMG, what the fuck is with you people? Ever thought that maybe he just POSED like that and didn’t realize what he did??? GOD, Jesus-fucking-Christ…When me and Famous made our mixtape, we accidentally did something similar…Not a big fucking deal…Stop trying to put down everyone and say their Illuminati… >:|

    11. First off I gotta say I’ve been waiting for this album for a long minute. The Quik sound is under appreciated to the masses but for those who know good music are salivating @ the mouth for this one. The last couple of albums have been hella good what ya’ll talking about?!?! Like 40 Water say “ya’ll just listening to slow”. I can listen to Quik albums from front to back like the low low I’m gonna get (Low Rider for ya’ll tardy folkz). Anyways I just purchased my copy and I began to think there aren’t many artist who has lyrical substance over their own awesome bangin a$$ beats! The fact that he remains relevent after all these years is “Hyyyyydromatic”! I just love how the world sleeps on Cali music in general. Cali is the home of the best independent music scene. You can’t hate on innovative realistic creativity. HANDS DOWN DUBz UP!

L.A. 213/Stockton 209/Sac 916 stand all the way up Niiiiiiaaaaa lol!
