DJ Khaled Celebrates ‘Dream Come True’ As ‘Golf Digest’ Cover Star

DJ Khaled, who recently caught the golfing bug and can’t get enough of the sport, has graced the latest cover of Golf Digest.

Calling the honor a “dream come true” as the digital story arrived on Tuesday (May 23), Khaled can be seen draped in Drake’s Nike Nocta athleticwear line.

The Grammy-winning Miami producer can be heard saying his signature “Let’s go golfing” line in just about all of his Instagram posts throughout the day signifying his love for the game which has also reinvigorated him creatively.

“When I’m done playing golf, and I walk into the studio, I have a clear mind,” he said. “On this new album, a lot of my great ideas came from me sitting on the golf course or me walking the fairway and just thinking.

“A lot of my great ideas come out when I jump in the car on the way home after a beautiful day of golf, and I’m driving home, and I’m saying ‘Man, I got a dope idea. I’m gonna go lay it down in the studio.’”

Khaled’s love for golf has spread to both of his children as he built a miniature golf course in the backyard of his mansion so he’s never too far from working on his game.

“My kids, they fell in love, too,” he added. “We built a golf course in our backyard — just got it done today, actually — so they’re both golfing every day. On the weekends they come out and play with me. They also take lessons, but they are natural with it.

“I’m telling you, some people are just natural with it, but you can’t be natural and take it for granted. You gotta perfect it. At a young age, I can already tell they are going to be playing golf for sure. I’m not putting it on them. They naturally want to play golf.”

Whether he’s paired up with Mark Wahlberg or pros like John Daly, the game of golf has sparked some newfound friendships for Khaled.

“You know John Daly. We met up at an, um, secret location. He says, ‘Khal, I got love for you, I’m a fan,’ but he ain’t never seen me play golf. It’s a par 3,” he recalled of playing with the rebellious golf star.

“He tees up my ball. He’s giving me pointers. I embrace it because he’s a legend — and he did teach me something that I wasn’t doing — but at the same timeI was like, ‘He has no idea this is about to go on the green.’

“I took my 8-iron, and when I hit it, it sounded so good, everything looked right, and then it landed right on the green. He looked at me and goes, ‘That was motherf—king good!’”

Besides golf, DJ Khaled also recently made his official runway debut and ended up turning some heads as he graced the catwalk for Hugo Boss at a fashion show in March.
