DJ Drama‘s upcoming Pusha TGangsta Grillz tape has had rap fans excited since its announcement, but the anticipated tape may have now fallen through the cracks.

Both Drama and King Push confirmed plans for the project during a December 2022 Twitter Spaces chat. However, 10 months have passed and there aren’t any rumblings about the tape, causing fans to panic about it possibly being scrapped.

On Wednesday (October 18), a curious fan hopped into Drama’s mentions and the Generation Now boss responded to the tweet with a simple thinking emoji, not giving much information one way or the other as the project remains in limbo.

“Cmon we been waiting,” one impatient fan wrote as others had plenty to say. “This would shake the billboards.”

“Need that for Halloween,” one comment read following a 2cool2bl0g repost of DJ Drama’s comments.

DJ Drama hyped the project in February while speaking to Complex on the red carpet for the 2023 Grammy Awards.

“The Pusha T Gangsta Grillz definitely gonna be spicy,” he said. “I feel like it could potentially be the next mixtape to win a Grammy.

Pusha has also spoken about the tape in the past, referring to the project as “special” in an interview with XXL earlier this year.

“I’m working on a special mixtape. To have the fun I want to have,” he said. “What I’m trying to do is restore the feeling in every aspect of this subgenre of music. And just of this cloth, of this taste level.

“I’m just trying to make people realize how viable this is. To show people that I can’t do what you do, but you definitely can’t do what I do. I have to show those differences. That’s the whole premise behind the mixtape.”

The Virginia-bred rhymer revealed that seeing Tyler, The Creator and Drama win a Grammy for Best Rap Album for Call Me If You Get Lost inspired him to lock in his own Gangsta Grillz.

“I just feel like to me, the Gangsta Grillz and the whole mixtape culture and scene is what I’m about. That’s the purest form of Hip Hop to me,” he said when asked about the eagerly-anticipated project. “The fact that Drama is having so much success, the fact that that’s what I love in Hip Hop, I want to merge those worlds and see what happens.

“I’m going to be honest with you, seeing Drama’s mixtape with Tyler and how they won a Grammy, I was like, ‘Man, mixtapes really won a Grammy.’ So I’m trying to be a part of that culture as well.”
