The Notorious B.I.G.’s first documentary approved by the late legend’s estate is finally coming to Netflix. The streaming service revealed on Monday (February 15) Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell arrives on the streaming giant on March 1.
Hip Hop mogul Diddy, who made Biggie the Bad Boy Records golden child, the Brooklyn luminary’s mother Voletta Wallace and Biggie’s estate manager Wayne Barrow are all on board as producers for the Netflix project, while his widow Faith Evans, Lil Cease (Junior M.A.F.I.A.) and other friends and loved ones make appearances throughout the film.
I Got A Story To Tell was originally announced in 2017 under the title One More Chance, but it took nearly four years to come to fruition. Netflix expects the documentary to offer “a fresh look at one of the greatest, most influential rappers of all time by those who knew him best.”

The film will examine Biggie — born Christopher Wallace — and his talents before blossoming into a superstar rapper mostly through the eyes of one of his childhood friends Damian “D Roc” Butler.
“The running joke about documentary films is often how long they take to make,” director Emmett Malloy relayed to Rolling Stone. “This film lived up to all those stereotypes, taking us four years to develop and make it. Through those years we were immersed in Brooklyn in the 1970s through the 1990s.”
He continued, “It is easy to see how much Brooklyn has changed since Christopher Wallace was a kid, but it’s also clear that many things about being a young black man in this country have not changed.”
Biggie, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, was shot and killed in 1997 at just 24 years old.
