Diddy is allegedly being prevented from using his government-provided laptop as needed while behind bars – so his legal team is taking action.
HipHopDX obtained a letter from the embattled mogul’s lawyers to the judge on his case on Wednesday (December 4). In it, they accuse his prosecutors and his current facility, MDC, of withholding his computer.

“Two months after he was charged and detained, on November 25, 2024, the government provided the MDC with a laptop that Mr. Combs can use to review discovery, take notes related to his case, and otherwise assist in his defense,” the document reads. “In the nine days since then, Mr. Combs has still not been provided with the laptop despite numerous inquiries by defense counsel.”
They go on to say that government and MDC lawyers said they’d give it to Diddy, but only during particular times, which his defense claims is a restriction no other inmate faces and that there is “no justification” for.

They also accuse the MDC of letting the prosecution know who has been visiting Diddy alongside his attorneys — including “potential experts and investigators.”
“There is no conceivable reason why the government should know who and when Mr. Combs meets with in connection with his legal defense,” they noted before concluding: “Accordingly, we respectfully request that the Court direct the MDC to (1) provide Mr. Combs with the laptop that has been prepared and provided by the government, and to allow him to use it in the unit; and (2) cease sending the government copies of attorney visitation forms.”

The letter arrives the same week the government beefed up its team in the Bad Boy boss’ upcoming sex trafficking trial.
According to Billboard, Maurene Ryan Comey, a lead prosecutor in the conviction of Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislain Maxwell, will be part of the team prosecuting Diddy.

Comey is also the daughter of former FBI director James Comey.
Diddy, meanwhile, made two high-powered hirings of his own in October in the form of Alexandra Shapiro (no relation to famed defense attorney Robert Shapiro) and Anthony Ricco, who join his existing lawyer Marc Agnifilo.
Shapiro is considered one of the country’s leading appellate lawyers, while Ricco has been involved in numerous high-profile cases such as the World Trade Centre bombing.
Comey’s addition to the prosecution comes shortly after Diddy was denied bail for a third time.

Diddy’s trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 5 next year, though that date is subject to change.
