Diddy‘s key to New York City has been rescinded by Mayor Eric Adams in response to the recently released video of Puffy brutally attacking his then-girlfriend Cassie in 2016.

TMZ obtained two letters on Saturday (June 15), one of which was sent to Combs Entertainment LLC’s office in New York and the other to his L.A. office. They were addressed to Diddy courtesy of Mayor Adams, who said he was “deeply disturbed” by the Cassie video.

Adams said in the letter that he stands with survivors of domestic abuse, and outlined that the key is used to recognize outstanding citizens. The Mayor noted that the Bad Boy mogul no longer fits the criteria.

The New York city chief also provided an address to which Diddy could return the keys. This move marks the first time a key to the Big Apple has been rescinded.

Diddy reportedly received the letter on June 4 and returned the honor on June 10.

Rumors of the key withdrawal began back in May when the NYC Mayor spoke with PIX11 and was quizzed about the shocking footage that surfaced of Puffy attacking Cassie.

Asked whether Diddy’s key to New York City, which Adams presented to him during a ceremony in Times Square last September, could be revoked, the mayor said he and his team were considering it.

“I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him,” he said. “The committee and the team, we’ve never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be.”

Asked again, in more direct fashion, if he was considering taking the honor away, Adams replied: “We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back [to] me with a final determination.”

One person who will surely have a comment on Diddy losing his key to the City? 50 Cent, who recently took his trolling campaign against Diddy up a notch by attending a comedy roast of the embattled mogul in Miami.

The show took place at the Dead Flamingo Pop Up in Little Havana, and the charity event saw 50 pose for photos with fans and pass around shots of his Branson Cognac, according to the Miami Herald.

After the show, 50 posted about his surprise appearance on Instagram and wrote: “Yes, I was in attendance I thought puffy might show up because I saw Tom Brady at his. [shrug emoji] he didn’t come, I had the shooters [camera emoji] get your mind out gutter videographers [eyes emoji] what!”

The roast of Diddy was a fundraiser for the National Domestic Violence Hotline and though 50 himself didn’t grace the stage, it featured sets from local Miami comedians Lonnie Cox, Ricky Cruz and Drew Illa.
