Diddy allegedly sacrificed a bird before he found out the jury’s verdict in his controversial 1999 shooting trial.
A new Hulu documentary called The Honorable Shyne partly explores the nightclub shooting in New York City that led to both Diddy and Shyne being charged after three people were injured.
While the Bad Boy boss was acquitted of gun and bribery charges, Shyne was convicted of reckless endangerment and assault and spent nine years in prison.
In the documentary, Diddy’s former bodyguard Gene Deal claimed that the mogul met a man in Central Park and performed a bird sacrifice on his way to the courthouse.
“When Puff got close to the guy, he just dropped down to his knees. Next thing I see, is this smoke just going back and forth around Puff. I guess it was sage or something like that,” he said.
Deal recalled the man holding what appeared to be a Bible and praying while laying his hands on Diddy. The man then allegedly told Puffy to grab a white bird from a nearby cage.
“Puff took this white bird and threw it up in the air,” the ex-bodyguard continued. “The bird just fell to the ground, boom, like it was a brick. I was like, ‘Oh, shit!’ The bird died, man. The bird didn’t even move. [Diddy] just walked away from him real quick.”
Diddy has not yet responded to the claims made by Deal in the documentary.
Shyne himself has been open about his complicated relationship with Diddy while promoting the Hulu film.
Appearing on The Stephen A. Smith Show last week, he said: “For years I was saying what a creep I thought he was and how he destroyed my life and at one point, I thought he was the devil.
“But because of the power of Diddy, which is so loud as far as a pop culture icon, nobody listened. And so I moved on. And I pivoted my life to healing, to forgiveness and to taking accountability for what I can control.”
The former Bad Boy rapper-turned-politician continued: “And I can’t control what someone did to me decades ago. I can’t control them not wanting to pay reparations, not wanting to make right.
“People say, ‘Oh Diddy gave [you] millions to go to jail.’ Nothing! Probably made two what I thought were offensive contributions over the last 20-something years which led to a breakdown in the relations. But I moved on.”
