Major Harris, former member of Philadelphia sound soul group the Delfonics has died in Richmond, Virginia.
The Associated Press reports that Harris passed away Friday (November 9) from congestive heart and lung failure after being rushed to a hospital.
Harris was a member of the Charmers, Frankie Lymon’s Teenagers, and Nat Turner’s Rebeillion.
He joined the Delfonics in the early 1970s, recording hits such as “La-La (Means I Love You)” and “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time).”
The Delfonics were oft-sampled in Hip Hop by artists such as Grand Puba (“Very Special”), Ghostface Killah (“Holla,” “R.A.G.U.”), and most famously in by the Fugees (“Ready or Not” ).
Harris was 65. HipHopDX extends our condolences to his family and friends at this time.
