DDG has defended Halle Bailey after she faced backlash for criticizing his decision to take their baby on Kai Cenat’s livestream.

In a video posted to YouTube on Thursday (November 7), the Michigan rapper offered a mature response to the drama in which he showed empathy to his ex-girlfriend and told her critics to knock it off.

“One thing I don’t like what people do, I don’t like when people hate on Halle. I don’t care if people think she wrong or not, or if I think she wrong or right,” he said.

“She could be going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man. So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, we need each other to create a childhood that’s safe and fun and memorable for him.”

DDG also said: “I wouldn’t have him if it wasn’t for Halle, and for that reason alone, I got unconditional love and respect for her.”

He added that he and Bailey were still working through a public breakup: “It’s hard for us. So when lil’ stuff like this happens, it’s really nothing. People go through this type of stuff all the time.

“I just don’t appreciate when people try to put me against her or me versus her and all of this, ‘She’s wrong and he’s right, blah blah blah.’ Y’all could hate on me for as long as y’all want, but leave Halle alone, man.”

DDG’s comments come after Halle Bailey publicly slammed him for appearing on Kai Cenat’s hugely popular Twitch channel alongside their 11-month-old son without her knowledge.

“[H]i everyone. just so you know i am out of town and i don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“[I] wasn’t told or notified and i am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. i am his mother and protector and saddened that i wasn’t notified especially when i am out of town.”

In a follow-up post, she added: “[A]s a woman experiencing severe postpartum, there are boundaries that i wish to be respected. nobody knows what someone is going through until they snap.”

The singer and actress later deactivated her social media accounts after receiving negative responses online, with some users accusing her of being a hypocrite given she has shared numerous photos of her son online.

Bailey acknowledged upon her return to social media that she may have overreacted when seeing Halo on Cenat’s stream.
