For the last year-and-a-half, Hip Hop has been deeply concerned with the health of one of its most recognizable voices. Nate Dogg, known for his work with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ludacris and Fabolous suffered two strokes, the most recent believed to have been in September of 2008.
Producer, Los Angeles radio pioneer and artist Damizza updated fans on Nate’s status, as the rapper/singer continues to recover. Having worked together on 1999’s hit single “Where I Wanna Be” alongside Shade Sheist and Kurupt, Damizza, whose album the track first appeared on, visited Nate for six hours recently. He sent DubCNN.com a detailed account of the visit.
One excerpt reads, “I took him, in his wheelchair, to a computer and played him all the songs we’ve done together. His mom was surprised because all the records Nate and I did were positive ones that expressed his true feelings. I played him ‘Music and Me.’ I played him ‘Wake Up.’ And ‘Where I Wanna Be.’ I also sung him an unreleased record we had done just for fun … and his face lit up and he laughed, as he is able.”
Although Nate is not yet speaking, Damizza reveals that the founding 213 member is very close. He also has a special incentive for the former artist signed to both Death Row and Elektra Records, should he speak soon.

get well homie
I’m pretty desensitized to shit like this most of the time, but to know that he’s still relegated to a wheelchair and still hasn’t regained speech function is kinda sad.
I realize the tone of this story is supposed to be on a positive note, but still, that’s rough man.
I just stopped for a sec to check the full dubcnn article, that was hard to read.
I’m glad he is still alive, but being relegated to the wheelchair and not being able to speak is most unfortunate. Still looking forward to a full recovery!
Sadly, from my Physiotherapist point of view there will be no such thing as a full recovery after such a long time. Progress will always be possible but those seem to be MAJOR strokes if he still can’t talk and walk in any kind of way.
Realistically, he will never be able to sing again cause his vocal cords just won’t be able to create rhythm or melodies.
Most of all I just feel sad for him as a human being.
Money don’t matter 2nite…

Def glad dude is still alive. To me he is the king of hooks. East, West, South. He done it all and kept his style in tact. Sad to hear about being pushed in wheele chair and not being able to use his voice. That’s his bread & butter. Dude is a trooper to even get past two strokes so I truly believe he’ll do fine. Folks lay off of all the fried food as that is one of the causes for strokes. It takes time to build up, but when it hits it’s not a joke. Everyone’s body is different but one thing is the same. The human body can only take so much and then it will turn on you like a chick that was treated bad. And they both can hurt/cause death.
I really hate reading this or hearing about what happen to one of thee original. I love you Nate and I hope GOD sees you through. I am very sad. To me you have one of the best voice in the business. No one can hardly touch you. May the Lord have mercy.
