Dame Dash On Jay Z: “He Was Terrible On Stage”

Since Dame Dash and Jay Z  parted ways after the sale of Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, Dash has garnered attention when he’s spoken about his former business partner.

During an interview posted Wednesday (June 3), Dash reflected on Hov’s stage presence in a video-conference with Dr. Boyce Watkins.

When Watkins (a.k.a. the People’s Scholar) asks Dame why he didn’t rap but would often go onstage with Jay Z, he replies, “I didn’t want to rap. I though that shit was corny.”

“You do anything for your business,” Dash says. “Jay had no presence on that stage, period. He was terrible on stage, no personality. The Jay now has hit records. Before he had hit records, you have to have a personality on that stage.”

Dash says that Hov was an “introverted person” and didn’t talk very much.

“He’d be on the stage doing nothing,” Dash adds.

    1. I thought real men didn’t talk about other men. This Dash shit is getting tired. Every time he opens his mouth someone else’s name is coming out of it. Might as well cup the balls.

      1. Just because somebody ask you a question, don’t mean you have to answer it you little stupid dummy, people only talk to dame to ask about Jay z and dame has to realize that and be a stand up guy and put an end to it.

    2. That’s one thing that I’ve noticed about Jay. He lacks energy on stage. Great business man, OK performer.

    3. DON’T TRIP, DAME HAS ALWAYS SAID THIS, EVEN BACK WHEN THEY WERE GOOD. HE’S ALWAYS SAID JAY WAS “TOO COOL” TO GET HYPED ON STAGE. DAME WOULD START DOING HIS CHAMPAGNE DANCE TO GET PEOPLE HYPE BC JAY WAS BASICALLY JUST STANDING THERE.

    4. Jay fan but to be objective, he’s right. Jay’s live show now is crazy though. Isn’t that the whole point to life? Living and learning?

    5. Dear Dame
You are living up to your name,by actually becoming a “dame”.Just #StopSnitching

      Your African Friend
      LERETE LA PAPAGO JONES

      1. Fuck BOKO HARAM the South African Military is gonna eat you Arab flunkies alive! Killing your own brothers for those dirty vagabond cave dwellers fuck yall

    6. Dame craved and still craves the attention is the bottom line, which is why he jumps at every opportunity to do an interview. He KNOWS he’ll be asked about Jay. He knows nobody gives a damn about nothing else he has to say unless its about Jay. That’s precisely why every headline he makes highlights what he had to say about Jay-Z. It doesn’t help his case that when he has the opportunity to speak on something different, he either lies or brags his off. Funny and pitiful all at the same time.

    7. Bottom line, Hov exceeded all expectations. Big didn’t move around either. Rakim stayed on the tip of the stage. It’s about stage presence.

    8. Yes. Truth.
I recall my first time seeing Jay performing at a Greensboro NC Super Jam that featured Goodie mob, Outkast, Jay Z, & DMX as the headliner. All the others acts stage performance was high energy boom bap in your face. Jay’s performance was a boring put you to sleep lazy holding the mic to the crowd wanting us to do the show for him. I was like thats what we paying you for. Chuck D always says stage performance is the most important thing & what the masses really remember you for. Im from the old school & still recall the Fresh Fest with the Fatboys, Rùn Dmc, & Whodini, & Public Enemy show ft. Naughty by Nature, Digital Underground, Naughty by Nature, & Queen Latifah. They rocked the mic & stage performance was high energy

      1. You a real one. Wish I was old enough to witness that kind of HipHop history. I guess Jay hasn’t changed much since then.

    9. why he stay talking about other men? i thought he said that was some chatty patty shit.

    10. Someone pls replay this guys last few interviews for him….this is the same guy who says that he doesn’t talk about other guys. The same guy who supposedly had nothing to say about Jay. The same guy who states ‘I don’t like chatty patties’….come on now, promoting those films must not be keeping him on time lines so now the topic of Jay is up for discussion? Hmm…chatty patty? This seems like a joke, that isn’t funny….
