Dame Dash Faces $7M Defamation Lawsuit

Dame Dash is being sued for $7 million over defamatory social media comments.

According to The Blast, director Josh Webber sued Dash after allegedly losing money due to the Hip Hop mogul’s online comments. Both men are currently in an ongoing legal battle over a movie the two worked on together.

The film in question, Dear Frank, is directed by Webber and produced by his company Muddy Water Pictures. Dash had been directing alongside Webber until he was fired from the project in 2018 for allegedly behaving irrationally and being high on the set. Earlier this year, Webber took the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder to court because Dash began marketing Dear Frank, which Dash was calling The List, as his own movie despite no longer being a part of the film.

Dash took the beef to Instagram when he posted about The List, writing, “I was going to deal with this later but I guess I’ll have to deal with it now…this is the movie the list #thelist that I directed and produced about a year ago… @muddfilms is pretending he owns this film and @joshawebber (pure culture vulture) is pretending he directed this movie.

“I’m letting you know now we will be legally dealing with this and any one that touches this film before this is handled will be exposed legally as well… and I know @officialcshort @claudiajordan @brianjwhite @torreihart would never ever check for anything but the truth and only the truth cause it looks like you all are gonna have to tell it… #staytuned.”

Webber retaliated with his own post, claiming, “He was HIRED by @muddfilms to ‘Direct’ the film #thelist originally as a ‘celebrity’ Director. I was the producer of the film and asked to ensure that it actually got made by ghost directing certain aspects.

“Dame has no idea what directing a movie actually is or takes and was constantly yelling at crew members/cast, berating people on set, smoking weed and basically sleeping at the wheel. Then while in the process of finishing the film, Dame was being a hot head with the studio executive producer/financier stepping out of line and finally got FIRED!!”

Webber claims that due to Dash’s actions and defamatory comments, he’s lost a $6 million investment on one project, which court documents say “specifically references the actions of Dash as the reason the contract was terminated.” He also allegedly lost another gig that would’ve paid $275,000.

For future losses, Webber is seeking an additional $565,000 — a dollar for every one of Dash’s Instagram followers and YouTube subscribers.

In total, the lawsuit is demanding Dash pay $6.84 million to Webber and $565,000 to Muddy Water Pictures.

    1. Its more than clear that dame is someone to steer clear from. Hes been on camera numerous times yelling at ppl pretending to be a boss. He gets fired or let go from everything hes apart of..why do ppl still work w him?

    2. Get out if here….what kind of b.S he is talking about. White people always want to cheat a brother

    3. Does anyone still care about what this guy does? Look at him. Emotional. He trying to get popping so bad he put tmz and all of them in the post

    4. So glad there’s Dame Dash’s that are exposing these white savages who are using black culture to earn a paycheck

    5. Most Hollywood directors do exactly what Dash was described as doing on set tbh. So some next guy comes in at the very end to take all the credit? And on top of that wants 7 mill from the original director? Sounds like a human version of a vulture to me.

      1. Those directors are proven hit makers when it comes to film making. Dame was essentially used as a marketing ploy to gather buzz for the movie. He doesn’t know shit about directing.

    6. Dame Dash is a narcissist – just look up the thousands of articles on the trait and see that he fits almost all to a T.

Lyor Cohen might be culture vulture, but he still made a lot of young black men rich out here. On the other hand, ain’t nobody got anything good to say about Dame – he pretends to be honorable in public but is an abusive, lying, emotional mf in private.

    7. Dame might be stupid a lot of times but like Jay z said, he’s the ultimate hustler. He got a very bad attitude from his portrayal in the media but the truth is, directors have always done a lot of things on set including drugs but so long as their production is perfect, there’s never been an issue. Even college theatre arts has these elements

    8. dame, dame, dame,,when will he learn to act professionally? he needs to grow up, that attitude of his is taking him nowhere fast..

    9. This guy is just sad. All his former peers are now moguls. He’s still the same loud mouth burning bridges everywhere he goes? You kinda have to feel bad for him. Jigga should throw him a bone or something just a contract for a business venture worth a few mills just to give the guy atleast 1 W since the OG Roc fell.

    10. ChokeNoJoke kept it real on “Champagne Dame”… Always burning bridges and empowering white and light women..

    11. Dame is the example of how u want your life not to go..get to the top and crash to rock bottom like the Boeing Air max 737. No one fxcks with son at all
