Damon Dash has partnered with Magnolia Films to bring the true story of drug kingpin Nicky Barnes to theaters in the new film Mr. Untouchable.
The film’s title refers to the headline “Mister Untouchable,” which appeared beside Barnes’ photo in a New York Times Magazine in 1977, before text that read “This is Nicky Barnes. New York police say he’s the biggest drug dealer in Harlem. But can they prove it?”
The documentary will be released on October 19th, and will chronicle the creation and fall of the Harlem drug lord’s empire in the 70’s. The movie will be directed by Marc Levin, and will feature music by DJ Hi Tek. Commentary in the movie will come from Barnes himself, former wife of Barnes Thelma Grant, as well as members of his crime organization, and reporters, officers and attorneys involved in convicting him.
Mr. Untouchable hits theaters October 19th.
