Da Honorable C.N.O.T.E. Explains His Approach To Production

Da Honorable C.N.O.T.E. might not be a household name yet, but his production on A$AP Rocky’s latest single “M’s” has quickly earned him a rising-star status in the Hip Hop world.

Speaking with HipHopDX a few weeks back, C Note explained how he’s constantly trying to predict future trends with his music.

“Everything is timing,” C.N.O.T.E. told HipHopDX’s Justin Hunte at SXSW in a clip that debuted as a part of today’s DX Daily. “Every beat I make I try to make it like two years ahead, like where niggas will be in two years from now. If I played it right now they probably wouldn’t get it but two years from now, from the beats leading up to that, they’ll probably get it. As a producer I feel that you should always try to be ahead of the game. That’s how you be an innovator and have people looking up to what you do as a producer.”

“I wanna get people dancing again,” he added. “Me and Puff was in Miami, we just chilling in the V.I.P. He was like, ‘C Note, look at the floor.’ I looked at the floor, he was like, ‘People not dancing.’ And he right though, they wasn’t dancing. I just feel like the tempo or whatever in the future it’ll be picked up and we gon’ figure it out.”
