D12 Tops Billboard 200

Among controversy surrounding the single, “Purple Hills/Pills”, the debut album from D12 entitled Devil’s Night climbed to #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Soundscan figures from last week’s sales determine that the Detroit rap group, led and executive-produced by Eminem, moved 372,000 units in its first week.

The group’s first effort topped the field with ease although paling in comparison to the roughly two million copies of Eminem’s second solo release, “The Marshall Mathers LP” during its first week.

In related news, Eminem’s mom, Debbie Mathers-Nelson, will receive the full $25,000 settlement she agreed to in May regarding the defamation lawsuit filed against her acid-spitting son. Originally seeking $11 million, Mrs. Mathers said she’d take the money and call it a day. Now that’s shady.
