Crunchy Black believes the disgraced Memphis police officers who murdered Tyre Nichols also had something to do with Young Dolph’s death.

The Three 6 Mafia veteran — a Memphis native himself — made the claim in an interview with VladTV, in which he was asked about the high-profile police brutality incident that has sparked outrage across the country.

DJ Vlad said after watching the footage of the harrowing attack, it “almost seemed like the police were on drugs,” to which Black agreed with.

“They probably was because lately, down here, the police — even when me and [DJ] Paul, all us, really stayed in Memphis — it started back then,” he said. “Some of the guys that was on the force was pulling n-ggas over and running up in houses and taking their money and dope, but they’re not turning them in and not taking people to jail.

“They kept doing that so much where I guess it led up to this. They somewhere get drunk and high, like you said. I just think the police been on some other shit down here lately.”

Crunchy Black then suggested that the five cops who beat Nichols to death during a traffic stop earlier this month also played a “big part” in Dolph’s November 2021 murder.

“I think that that Dolph shit got a lot of shit off the change right now, and it was some police officers that had something to do with that,” he said. “They played a big part, and now that the building is crumbling, maybe them boys was some of the boys that dealt with that Dolph situation.

“Now it’s like they probably going through some things because they know their ass going to jail, too. Their ass most definitely going to jail for this Dolph stuff.”

He added: “For them to go that far…you know that they had something to do with this Dolph situation and also you know that they was going through something mentally.”

Black didn’t point to anything else to substantiate his claims, though.

Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man and father from Memphis, was pulled over for suspected reckless driving on January 7 before being severely beaten by five Memphis Police Department officers (who are also Black) for several minutes. He was hospitalized in critical condition and died three days later.

Nichols’ death — footage of which was released to the public on January 27 — has resulted in criminal charges against all five cops, while three emergency workers have been fired and two other cops have been suspended.

The five officers, who have also been fired, face charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression.

Young Dolph (real name Adolph Thornton Jr.), meanwhile, was shot and killed outside a bakery in Memphis on November 17, 2021. The 36-year-old rapper was wounded 22 times after being ambushed by two gunmen while buying cookies for his mother.

Shundale Barnett, a passenger of the vehicle Johnson was driving at the time of the attack, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Johnson, Smith and Govan all remain behind bars awaiting trial, while Barnett recently bonded out of a Texas jail where he was being held on an undisclosed charge.
