After last scheduling his sixth studio album, Cormega Raw Forever, for a June release date Cormega has revealed in an interview with Conspiracy Worldwide Radio that the album will now be released sometime in September.
Before speaking in-depth on his project Cormega made sure to make a few clarifications in regards to the album which will be somewhat of a “Best Of” project with original songs, remixes, and several guest appearances.
“Cormega Raw Forever is coming out September, but I don’t wanna deceive the public it’s not like a new Cormega album,” Cormega explained. “It’s a Cormega project. Basically Cormega Raw Forever is gonna be like a best of. It’s gonna be two CD’s: one CD’s gonna be a best of and the second CD is gonna be like MTV Unplugged, like me working with a band. You see what I’m saying?”
While Cormega Raw Forever will likely have quite a few guest appearances the rapper seemed most excited about his song with the son of deceased rapper Big Pun.
“One of my favorite remixes on the whole album is ‘Get It In’ with me and Lil’ Fame because the band killed it to the point where it sounds better than it did on my album cause the bass they just killed it,” said Cormega. “And we put Baby Pun on the album. Big Pun’s son is making his debut on Cormega Raw Forever. So it’s like I’m proud of that because I just can’t explain it man. It’s Pun’s son…and he’s killing it so I was happy for that.”
And on a more serious note Cormega spoke on Haiti and the fact that despite not being shown in the media not much has changed in the Caribbean nation since the earthquake.
“After the earthquake it’s not much of a change. Economically, you have people that are trying to build new companies so they can generate their own revenue out there, but it’s really bad out there,” the rapper explained. “Like you said the media isn’t really reporting this so a lot of people think that everything is copacetic. [There was] so much funds and the economy was generated through various charities and through various efforts to help them, but a lot of that money never really reached the people.”

Best of luck, Mega… he’s a good cat, i still feel bad about Nas roastin him
Don’t feel bad about Nas roasting him, that never really happened, and if you want to hear someone absolutely pick apart and explain Nas’ utter aura of fakeness, listen to Mega on ‘Thun and Kicko’ and ‘Love in Love out’….I would say Illmatic is better than anything Cormega has done, but The Realness and True Meaning would be better than anything else Nas has done
the whole “illamtic is dope, but everything else nas has done is wack” argument is so tired
u kno whats tired? bitch niggas leavin faggot ass comments under anonymous, mega>nas
Exactly. Cormega is a good dude and a nice rapper, but he has NOTHING on Nas.
Well, sorry to make an argument that you think is tired, but it is certainly what I perceive to be the truth. I would put The Realness or True Meaning over anything Nas has done sans Illmatic. ‘It was written’ was a very solid album, but it clearly makrs the beginning of the Nas’Esco period which I certainly did not buy into…
I recognize Mega does not have the fan base that Nas has, they are generally speaking about very different topics. Mega doesn’t really veer very far off the standard gangster routine, but I find he does it with a certain soul. Mega could rap about getting dressed and would find a way to bring a certain something original to it with very little effort, imo…Nas on the other hand is a master at making people think that he understands something that most other people just don’t get. Thats my understanding. I might be a hater, I find it very hard to listen to Nas’ music these days. I just don’t buy what he is selling. I know they are just album names, but ‘Gods Son’ and ‘Streets Disciples’ dont marry the milkshake girl and then get divorced becasue of cheating
@Ben if you’re talking about I Am & Nastradamus, then you have a point, but Nas dropped some classics after Illmatic, like It Was Written & Stillmatic, even God’s Son. And I’m a fan of Cormega, he’s put out some very dope projects, but in my opinion, he isn’t better than Nas, he’s better than AZ, but only by a little bit.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, appreciate the breakdown Ben… But, Nas is still nicer than mega.. Did destroy and rebuild completely skip you? Cause thats the roasting i was talkin about. Sun got scorched
now i agree born and raised is what nas should be looking toward becasue that album was dope, but Nas> Cormega. Peopel knock I Am..but Nas’ lyrics on that album were still ridiculous.
No disagreement at all on who the nicer MC is, its Nas. Nas is a more talented rapper than Mega. However, the albums they release are the end result of their skills, and I greatly prefer Megas catalog to Nas’ but thats just a personal thing. And at the risk of sounding like a complete hater, I never really was blown away with Stillmatic.
Talent is just that. It may be a stretch, but an example I would use is Method Man, who in my mind is possibly top 10 most talented MCs all time. However, his solo catalop just never really cut it because there is so much more than simply talent that goes into it…. Nas’ flow is absolutely incredible, and he is great to see live. But for me, after Illmatic, it just feels forced and confused. Mega has the really personal touch that seals it for me
NO OFFENSE
but cormega doesn’t really have the sales history to make a “BEST OF” in my opinion. i think this record will fail miserably, anybody that would be interested in buying a cormega best of has already heard all his albums. maybe 25% of his fans that buy his albums will buy it. not trying to slander the man, but i happen to know he was UNABLE to move 2,000 units first week. cormega was once one of the biggest artists in the underground. album with lake sucked, his comps sucked, all this hati non sense with SEAN PENN.
mega is fucking out of it.
Usually when lesser known but highly respected artists like Mega put out a “best of” album, he relizes he’s doing it for the fans with the possiblity of drawing in new listeners who may otherwise not be up to speed. Mega has his ear to the street, which means a stronger fanbase when compared to a fickle mainstream one, making it easy for him to know what his fans consider his “best off”…(“Killaz Theme”, son!)
Why a best-of album?? People who like Cormega definitely already own everything he’s put out. Is he out of ideas and he still owes money?? Give us some new shit already!!!
@ Ben, I ALMOST totally agree w/you. If I had to pick b/w a Nas or Mega CD to go & spend the rest of my life out on a lonely island, I’d have to pick Mega. The 2 Mega CD’s you mentioned are in my mind underground classics. Even though my common sense would root for Nas but there was a period in Nas’ career that I find hard to forgive him for. Yes you I’m talking about his Big Willie-ism faze. The time when he was beefing with the entire Queensbridge, and who will ever forget that song “You Owe Me” he did featuring Tim & Ginuwine… Although the beat was dope to me, but it just wasn’t the type of song anyone was expecting from an artist of Nas’ caliber (even at that time). Nas had so far removed himself from that “certain” level of respect to attempt going pop, and he was not believable in that lane.
On the other hand Mega has maintained his respect in the underground. Mega has NEVER tried his hand on the Pop scene & can be depended on to always deliver that NYC street amart but grimey knock we’ve always come to expect from him. Now on the down side w/Mega, he’s not been as consistent as expected. He’s also dropped some less than stellar albums here & there, noting “My Brother’s Keeper” as being the most recent of one of those albums, but then again you can easily blame that on Lake, he’s wack as hell. I also give him props for stepping out on the Haiti cause, we need Hip Hop voices in more areas than just music too especially when we take into consideration how powerful hip hop has become over the years. That’s a topic that will NEVER grow old as long as lives are affected over there in my opinion.
@ turftalka, REALLY?? You think Mega is nicer than AZ?? I dont know man but I think you’re reaching on that one there bro. I bet you’ll be hard pressed to find 5 people that’ll agree w/you on that one. Dope topic though about 2 intellectual heavyweights in the game, & I will be checking for Mega’s album as always…ONE!!
@turftalka man stfu AZ first album shits on anything coremega has or will do I’m not hating on him but but every time coremega was on a song with Nas or most ny rappers most of them would outshine him as for AZ he always held his own or did better than bnas when they were on the same track he’s the #1 most underrated rapper out there that has to have one of the best flow hell his first album doe or die set a trend in the 90’s first used by kool g raps he starting using mafioso type of elements in his songs after that didn’t Nas start doin the whole Escobar style and Jay-Z came out with reasonable doubt and had some of the same similiar concepts in each songs and also raekwon with his debut believe me coremega is nowhere near as talented as AZ I dont want to be dickriding him or anything but he’s too much of an overlooked rapper
AZ is way more talented than Cormega. Cory reminds me of Pac, it’s more the emotion and honesty that makes him good instead of the rapping itself.
Mega over Nas and AZ any day in my book. I don’t even have to think about it.
