Coolio‘s longtime manager — Jarel “Jarez” Posey — has been appointed control of the late rapper’s estate after no will was found following his death.

According to RadarOnline, a Las Vegas judge has approved Jarel Posey’s petition for access to the late California rapper’s estate.

Per court documents, he was appointed special administrator for Coolio’s estate, which means he is responsible for collecting residuals and handling financial matters.

It was noted in Posey’s petition that Coolio had no will, so the estate was divided among the musician’s children.

Posey sought appointment as executor to avoid “waste and/or loss of the personal property of [Coolio]. Specifically, the estate is believed to include personal property and demand deposit accounts, financial accounts, insurance policies and royalties, all of which need to be marshaled and protected on behalf of the estate.”

In the opinion of Coolio’s manager, the court needed to appoint him and authorize him to “access monies from Decedent’s personal property and accounts and the same shall be placed in the attorney’s IOLTA Trust Account until further ordered by the Court.”

As per court documents, all Jarel’s requests were approved.

Posey relayed to TMZ  that they had heard from the coroner who explained that Coolio passed away due to a cocktail of drugs. In addition to fentanyl, the rapper also reportedly had a mix of heroin and methamphetamines in his system.

The coroner also believed that his long habit of smoking cigarettes and severe asthma played a role in his body’s inability to fight back leading to his tragic death.
