West coast emcee Coolio is ready to return with first album in 5 years. October 15th will see him release “El Cool Magnifico.” The name of the album just so happens to be the name of his new alter ego. So what is the reason for Coolio’s new character? This is what he had to say; “If I say something that I believe in and people don’t like it, I’m not going to apologize because I’m entitled to have an opinion. That’s why I created an alter ego. Coolio is perceived as being so cool, there are some things Coolio can’t do and when I want to do something that’s not politically correct, I’m not Coolio, I’m El Cool Magnifico … but I’ll apologize for him.”
Coolio first made an impact with the smash single “Fantasic Voyage” in 1994 from his debut album “It Takes A Thief.” A year later he had an even bigger hit in “Gangsta’s Paradise.” Unfortunately, his album by the same name flopped and when he dropped “My Soul” in 1997 no one was checking for him anymore. Coolio has not let people forget his name though, he has appeared on celebrity Fear Factor and The Missing Link and performed at Winter Olympics. He will be appearing in a movie soon as well, “Daredevil,” starring Ben Affleck and Michael Clarke Duncan.
