Common and Jennifer Hudson were spotted on a date at Usher’s Las Vegas residency last week, and sure enough, the “Confessions” hitmaker made his way over to the couple at one point in the evening.
During his performance on Friday (December 1), the Atlanta native remained in character and took his act directly to the audience. Singling out Hudson, he sang “There Goes My Baby” directly to her as her almost-confirmed romantic partner sat beside her and enjoyed the show.

This recurring bit of the 45-year-old’s concert has stirred up its share of drama between couples in recent months, but the Chicago MC seemed composed as the R&B icon serenaded the Dreamgirls star.

The following night, on Saturday (December 2), Usher played the final show of his three-year run in the entertainment capital of the world. As the evening came to an end, he broke down in tears in front of a packed audience .
In a fan-shot video, he could be seen dropping to his knees and covering his face as he became visibly emotional during a performance of “Without You.” Surrounded by his backing dancers, the singer soaked in the moment at the last of his 100 sets at the Dolby Live of the Park MGM casino hotel.
Turning away from the sold-out crowd as he started crying, the Raymond v. Raymond vocalist said: “God bless you, I love you.”
Usher’s presence in Las Vegas has been felt worldwide and the city recently honored his contributions to their entertainment circuit. Over the fall, City Councilman Cedric Crear and Mayor Carolyn Goodman declared October 17 Usher Raymond Day and handed him a key to the city.
“Councilman, thank you so much for this momentous moment,” the singer said during his acceptance speech. “I know the efforts that go into doing something like this and I don’t take it for granted.
“I wanna thank you for your belief in the future and your ability to be able to recognize those things that actually do grow your city. I am someone who is not just contributing by way of entertainment, but also to the heartbeat of the city.”

Crear had high praise for the “Yeah” hitmaker, saying: “Usher has been an absolutely incredible brand ambassador for Las Vegas with his extremely popular residency as you know called My Way.
“And we all know he is going to be headlining something for the first time — I don’t know if you really comprehend this, but for the first time in the history of the NFL, the Super Bowl is going to be here in Las Vegas… How fitting is it that the entertainment for the Halftime Show is gonna be — and we already claimed you, my man — is our own Usher Raymond. And we know you’re gonna do us proud.”
