Chuck D Calls for Troops to Come Home

While his buddy Flavor Flav was choosing female companions on a reality television program, Public Enemy’s Chuck D was getting ready for quite a show of his own.

With the war that American troops are facing away from home, Chuck took it upon himself to create Bring ‘Em Home Now, a benefit concert that supports the troops and asks for their return from Iraq.

The show will take place at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom March 20. Artists from several genres will perform. Acts on the bill include Chuck D along with Michael Stipe (of R.E.M.), Rufus Wainright and more.

Celebrity hosts will also lend their support. Janeane Garofalo, Jane Fonda, Alec Baldwin and comedian Margaret Cho will be in attendence and on-stage.

Proceeds from the event will go to Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War.

For those interested, Flavor Flav’s VH1 program, Flavor of Love’s season finale, which saw Hoopz named the winner drew close to 6 million viewers. The episode was the highest watched show in VH1’s history.
