Chris Rock Shares Sentiments About Kanye West’s ‘Blame Game’

Kanye West’s fifth studio album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy saw its fair share of out-of-genre musical features including indie band Bon Iver, Black Eyed Peas’ first lady Fergie, and the legendary Elton John. One appearance, however, came as an unexpected surprise. Comedian Chris Rock joined ‘Ye and John Legend on the eight-minute track “Blame Game,” and didn’t even sing a note.

“I did that quicker than I read scripts that they offer me money to do,” Rock told The New York Times of the nearly 2 and a half-minute skit weaved into the song. “I thank [Kanye] so much it probably freaks him out. Especially at this late date, to get on something, the album of the moment, that stuff is priceless. You can’t put a price tag on that.”

‘Ye joins a list of artists who’ve reached out to Rock to make cameos on selected works. Ludacris‘ “Everybody Hates Chris” appropriately featured Rock, as did Ice Cube‘s “You Ain’t Gotta Lie (Ta Kick It),” and works by Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Biz Markie.

“I feel invigorated by it,” Rock continued. “You’d be amazed at how many people want to work with you if you just ask, if you just make a call.”

Chris Rock is currently gearing up for his first Broadway gig, The Motherfucker With The Hat, releasing on April 11.
