Fox 32 Chicago is reporting that the alleged incident happened on Wednesday (December 13). According to the outlet, Lil Zay Osama was with two friends — Jeremiah Dawson, 21, and Travon Garland, 19 — in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook when they were spotted by the police.

Police received information about “a vehicle connected to a man who is suspected to be part of an investigation into an armed robbery at a jewelry store in New York.”

While it is not clear which of the three men is under suspicion for the alleged crime in New York, Lil Zay Osama was arrested in 2022 in NYC for allegedly leaving a machine gun in the back of a car. Though initially held without bail, he was subsequently released.

The police began to give chase to the Chicago rapper and his two friends when the car made a series of illegal maneuvers. At one point, a police helicopter was even deployed to try to track down the car.

Lil Zay Osama was also reportedly wearing a $90,000 necklace connected to the New York jewelry store robbery, though it is not clear if he was in fact involved in the robbery, or if he merely benefited from it.
