New York City rappers Che Grand [click to read] and Fresh Daily [click to listen] reached the masses earlier this week when both their albums were made available on the popular online retailer iTunes. Fresh Daily released his sophomore effort The Gorgeous Killer In Crimes Of Passion while Che Grand dropped his debut album Everything’s Good Ugly. Both albums were released on iTunes on Tuesday, August 18.
“This has been several years in the making,” Fresh Daily told HipHopDX. “What was the last indie Hip Hop album that came from a young dude, produced by Hip Hop’s production elites/vets? Ultimately, I’m humbled by the amazing response I’ve received so far, it inspires me to be even more of an artist.”
Fresh Daily’s The Gorgeous Killer includes a who’s who of producers including Illmind, 88 Keys, Frequency, and more. The album also features special appearances by Tanya Morgan and Homeboy Sandman.
Although Che Grand has several mixtapes under his belt as well as a number of guest appearances, Everything’s Good Ugly is the London-born rappers first studio album.
“Everything’s Good Ugly is just my current philosophy on life. Other titles could’ve been One Person’s Loss Is Another’s Treasure, Bitter With The Sweet, or Ying Yang Shit. It’s my debut album and the process of recording an album has always been important to me, I wanted to take my time and be genuine with the music. A lot of these songs came over the years of actually experiencing the subject matters, some good and some ugly,” Che Grand explained to HipHopDX.
Both Che Grand and Fresh Daily will be performing at a joint album release party on Saturday, August 22 at Southpaw in Brooklyn, New York.
