CeeLo Green has delivered a powerful PSA reassuring “young boys” that it’s okay to live a life free of controversy despite what is commonly portrayed as cool.

On Monday (July 17), the Goodie Mob co-founder re-shared a message originally posted by @summerhillsoldiergambinoo on Instagram that said: “To All the Young Boys!! It’s Okay if You Never Caught a Body!! It’s Okay if You Never Had a Bag From Hustlin in the Streets and You Work a Job!! It’s Okay if You Rather Play Sports Than Do Drugs!!

“It’s Okay Dawg I Promise!! It Might Look Cool but It Ain’t Worth It. If You Can Live Life Without Having to Worry About Opps or the Feds You Winning Don’t Let Nobody Tell You Different King”

Soon after, the original account that uploaded the PSA shared a screenshot of CeeLo’s post with the caption: “When one of Atlanta’s RAP LEGEND repost one of the realist memes I ever wrote.”

In a similar spirit, Q-Tip recently went against a popular trope in Hip Hop by calling for stricter gun control in the United States. In doing so, he shared a startling statistic about the tragic mass shootings that had already taken place in 2023 at the time of his post.

In early May, the Abstract shared an Instagram post about the heart-wrenching trend of gun violence. “There’s been more mass shootings (200) than days of the year (128) #GunControlNow,” the screenshot tweet read.

Q-Tip’s plea came just days after a mass shooting occurred at a mall in Allen, Texas. According to HuffPost, a 33-year-old, far-right gunman opened fire, killing eight people. He also died at the scene.

The deadliest mass shooting this year took place in Monterey Park, California in January, where a 72-year-old man killed 11 people at a dance studio after a Lunar New Year celebration.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, CeeLo Green revealed that Three 6 Mafia were supposed to feature on the next Gnarls Barkley album.

Taking to Instagram in January following the sad news that Gangsta Boo had died, he said he had already spoke to DJ Paul about featuring on his and Danger Mouse’s third LP. However, CeeLo explained he also wanted Boo, Crunchy Black and Juicy J — if he was down for the cause — to be involved.
