Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse have gained a large amount
of interest for their Gnarls Barkley side project. Earlier in the week, Cee-Lo
opened up about their success, a second album, more collaborations and possibly
a Goodie Mob reunion.
“It’s bittersweet, a double-edged sword. We didn’t
plan on touring for [‘St. Elsewhere’], but here we are, three months into a
tour. The dominoes are falling just as they should,” he said to
Billboard, adding that other projects have been pushed back due to the
unforeseen success the group has had.
The article goes on to state that a Goodie Mob reunion
is in the works. Another collaboration that many anticipated was that of Cee-Lo
and Jazze Pha. However, due to some label trouble, that album may
never be released. However, if Cee-Lo has his way-don’t count on it
being shelved for long.
“That was originally scheduled to be released prior
to [‘St. Elsewhere’]…but I must say that Capitol Records dropped the ball,
and I’ll say it just like that ’cause, frankly, I’m a little insulted by it.
It’s a very good project, and I wish people had gotten the opportunity to hear
it…If I have my way, I’ll be trying to push for it [to come out]. I feel
strong about that project.” he added.
Right now, all focus is on Gnarls. The duo is
currently touring, making a few stops at music festivals like Lollapalooza which will be held August
5.
With their current success, Cee-Lo noted that a
second Gnarls Barkley album is in the works.
“Now, with what it’s become, I’d like to see what we
could do if we really, really focused,” he added of the second Gnarls
Barkley LP.
