Cassidy has said that he’s the “biggest battle rapper” in the game — until Eminem wants to come and challenge him for the title.
The legendary Philly artist gave his perspective on his place in battle rap during a recent interview with the African Cultural Art Forum. Cassidy also talked about Eminem and his wish to either collaborate with him on a record, or simply battle him for supremacy in the performance genre.
“It’s nobody else in battle rap bigger than me or did more things than me,” Cassidy said. “If somebody wanted to try to claim the title, like Eminem or somebody would have to come back and get in the lane and try to claim that they are the biggest battle rapper. Because as of this point right now, it’s me.”
He added: “I’m a fan of Eminem man. I want to work with him. Trade some information with bull. Do some music with him, so I ain’t really trying to battle him, but I’ll battle anybody. I’ve battled myself before so I’ll battle anybody.”
This isn’t the first time Cassidy has called out a fellow Hip Hop peer for a rap battle.

“It’d be good for Hip Hop,” Cassidy said at the time. “Good for everything, man. Bring some more excitement to the game. Not taking nothing away from the dudes that’s rhyming right now, but it’d be beneficial. He don’t wanna do that, you know what I’m saying? You can’t force a man to do something he don’t wanna do so it is what it is.”
Cassidy came into the music industry as a battle rapper during the late 1990s. Over the last two decades, he’s become a platinum-selling rapper, but battle rap has always been in the background of his career. The 40-year-old has sparred with some of the top battle rappers in history including Hitman Holla, Arsonal and Goodz, to name a few.
