Cardi B‘s fans are clamoring for any information about her long-awaited sophomore album, and a recent Princess Diana-inspired outfit from the Bronx superstar has the Bardi Gang going wild with theories.

While out and about on Monday (June 24), Cardi rocked one of her shortest hair styles yet along with a vintage Harvard sweatshirt, shorts and sneakers – reminiscent of a nearly identical outfit the late Princess of Wales wore back in 1997.

When side by side pictures of the pair in the similar look hit social media, Bardi Gang began their speculation.

“The cover art of sza’s ‘sos’ references Princess Diana…” one person wrote with eye emojis, while someone else said, “Princess Diana’s bday is July 1st……so maybe album announcement.”

Another fan theorized: “So the album is 90s themed.

Cardi B has been teasing her follow-up to her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy for some time, but has been getting her fans more excited in recent weeks.

On June 20, she put out a teaser on her Instagram Story by asking people what they think her album title will be, and days later, promised a Spanish-speaking album “after my English one.”

In May, Cardi threatened that she wasn’t going to drop an album at all after a negative interaction on social media, but her reps later confirmed to Rolling Stone that “an album in 2024 is still the plan.”

The publication also reports that, as of March, the LP was partially done, but still needed an intro, at least three more songs a title, features, and a rollout plan.

As for what to expect on the upcoming album, Cardi said that she’s “a different person every single day. When I’m in a good mood and I’m with my friends, [I’m] like, ‘Damn, I want my shit to be played in this club.’ But then I might be mad with my man, so it’s like now I want to do this song. But then I want to do a pop record. I want to do my sing-y shit.”

In March, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper showed that she had tons of songs, including some recorded as long ago as early 2023.

The Instagram video was captioned: “January 2023 ….I really got like 100 songs,” and the video showed a screen full of tracks for a song labeled “Cunty,” all recorded in late January of last year between 4 and 5 in the morning.

“January 27 of 20-20-fuckin’-three. I be working on this shit at 5 a.m. — you know I’m a night owl,” she said, referring to her work on that track. “I promise y’all this year: I’m not letting my anxiety, I’m not letting what haters say, I’m not letting what fans say… If I do a song, Imma just fuckin’ drop it.

“Well, I got no choice, because I’m dropping my album this year, so stay tuned for the announcement.”

In March, Cardi gave fans a taste of what they can likely expect from her sophomore release, with her single, “Enough (Miami).” The track arrived two weeks after she dropped the “Like What (Freestyle),” sampling Missy Elliot’s 1999 hit “She’s a Bitch.”
