Cardi B tapped into her emo side as she ushered in 2023, performing Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar We’re Goin’ Down” while handling hosting duties in Miami.

The Bronx native was hired to host Miami hotspot E11EVEN for the last day of the year, and husband Offset was right by her side.

As the pair kept the crowd hyped throughout the night, one fan captured a brief moment where a drunken Cardi was living it up performing the 2005 pop-punk single.

“Cardi b singing fall out boy first thing after midnight on new year’s day is exactly how i wanted to start my year,” the TikTok user wrote on the clip.

Cardi has referenced her love for emo things in the past, even praising the “emo kids” at her high school in a tweet a few months back.

“Ghetto teenager……fun fact -The emo kids in school were actually really cool and will give me free cigarettes,” she tweeted with throwback photos of her showing several piercings on her body, smoking a cigarette and posing with a bottle of vodka.

But when a fan responded in hysterics that Cardi had an “emo” phase, the “Up” rapper clarified that wasn’t really the case.

“I wasn’t EMO,” Cardi clarified. “I was pierced cause Piercings was a big thing in the Bronx specially since this was the side lip piercing era. However they were a lot of emo kids in my school I will have history convos wit them while they give me free cigarettes.”

Cardi’s looking ahead to a big 2023, as she’s planning to finally drop her long-awaited sophomore album. Though she’s released big singles over the years like “WAP” and “Up,” Cardi B hasn’t released a full body of work since 2018’s Invasion of Privacy and fans are anxious.

During an appearance on The Breakfast Club in December, Bardi promised the album will arrive this year, saying: “I have no choice. I have to put it out.”
