Cardi B is assuring fans that her long-awaited sophomore album is coming in 2025 – despite previously promising it would arrive in 2024.

The Bronx superstar released her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, in April 2018, making it over six and a half years since she’s released a full body of work.

In an Instagram Live on Sunday night (November 17), Bardi asserted that next year will finally be the time.

“I’ve been feeling so emotional lately,” she said. “Because I know next year is going to be my fucking year. This has been the most weirdest year I have ever experienced. I don’t know what the fuck happened this year, I can’t even tell you. […] I fell in love. Then fell out of love, then got a divorce.

She continued: “I don’t know what the fuck is going on. I’m going through a very different transition in my fucking life and life is moving a little bit too fast. I don’t want to crash. I have to get my shit together. Next year, my album will be out, my secret businesses will be out. I can’t tell you what I’m working on. Hopefully next year I get me a little boyfriend. I’m hoe-less right now. I gotta get my shit together.”

Cardi B’s initial promise that the album would arrive in 2024 came before she found out she was pregnant with her third child.

However, she’s been consistently posting from the studio since the baby arrived in September, indicating that she’s full steam ahead and will hopefully deliver on her new promise of 2025.

Though she hasn’t released many details, there were recently some hints as to what it may be named.

In July, TMZ spotted Cardi’s company Washpoppin, Inc. applying for trademarks to two phrases, specifically wanting to use both in “Pre-recorded record albums featuring music,” among other related uses.

The phrases are “Defamation of character” and “Intrusive thoughts.” There was also a third that the outlet missed, “Am I The Drama?”

In addition to albums, Cardi also wants to be able to use the phrases for music videos, “downloadable music files,” and more.

She also revealed that the photo shoot for the album artwork is completed, telling a fan on X in September: “Album covers are taken. I just don’t know which to pick.”

And after sharing photos of her newborn that same month, she assured fans it was “crunch time” for her album, letting them know that she wasn’t going to be taking a break and extending the wait.
