Cam’ron and Ma$e have given their two cents on Los Angeles Laker Scottie Pippen Jr. being teammates with his mother’s ex-boyfriend.

On Killa Cam’s sports talk show It Is What It Is, the Harlem rappers were asked for their thoughts on the recent trade that saw Malik Beasley join Pippen Jr. on the Lakers, creating a potentially awkward dynamic inside the team’s locker room.

Beasley dated the 22-year-old’s mother, Larsa Pippen, for several months in late 2020 and early 2021 — while he was still married to his estranged wife Montana Yao.

According to Cam’ron and Mase, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka should’ve done a background check before striking a deal to have Beasley join Pippen Jr. and the Lakers, given the history between the two.

“Shit fucked up,” Cam said during the show as Ma$e laughed at the question. “What the fuck is you doing, Rob Pelinka? You have to do this due diligence before you get n-ggas on the team.”

Ma$e added that the trade is “a destruction to the locker room,” before Cam pointed out that NBA teams always do background checks to see if players had a history with drugs or criminal activities — but not for a player who “boned another n-gga’s mother.”

Former Los Angeles Laker Shaquille O’Neal also made a joke about the situation between Scottie Pippen Jr. and Malik Beasley during a recent episode of his Big Podcast.

“You know what would be messed up? If they started playing one-on-one and [Malik Beasley] hit a jumper in [Pippen Jr.’s] face and go, ‘Yo momma,’” Shaq said.

Aside from her fling with Beasley, Larsa Pippen has been romantically linked to Future and is currently dating Marcus Jordan, Michael Jordan’s first-born son. MJ and Scottie Pippen Sr. won six NBA titles together in the 1990s as members of the Chicago Bulls.

Cam’ron has been on a run discussing the hottest news in sports with his It Is What It Is talk show. Last December, the Dipset rapper gave his take on the comparisons between future NFL Hall of Famers Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.

The two have often been compared thanks to their stacked résumés, but Brady has six more Super Bowl rings than his Green Bay Packer counterpart. Because of that, Cam’ron doesn’t think there should be a comparison given how lopsided it is when it comes to NFL hardware.

“Why the fuck are we ever comparing Aaron Rodgers to Tom Brady in anything?” Cam asked during the episode. “Why? I don’t really understand it. The proof is not in the pudding. Aaron Rodgers has not won a Super Bowl since 2011. Tom Brady has been to the Super Bowl eight times since then.”

He continued: “And then another thing with Aaron Rodgers, he gives me cry baby, grumpy old man, the end-of-Brett-Farve’s-career-in-Green Bay vibes. That’s all he do.

“The same thing he doing is the same shit that Brett Farve did to him — cry about the new quarterback, don’t wanna help him out, don’t know if he’s coming in the off-season, don’t know if he’s going to extend the contract to last year when he got the extension, put Green Bay through all this shit.”
