Cam’ron has praised Grant Hill’s production talents after the two ran into each other during a recent NBA playoff game between the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets.

On Monday (May 8), the Dipset member posted a photo and video to Instagram of him and the NBA legend chopping it up. It wouldn’t have been right if Cam’ron didn’t try to recruit Grant Hill to be a host on his sports talk show, It Is What It Is.

“I offered @realgranthill a job at @itiswhatitis_talk (DEATHROW),” Cam said. He laughed and said I can’t afford him yet [one tear emoji] lol..  but on some real shit Grant has some [fire emoji] beats. I’m cop one bro. Appreciate the love.”

It might seem odd that the Olympic Gold medalist has a musical background but Rapsody told HipHopDX in 2013 that she actually ghostwrote for Grant Hill before.

“He contacted me about two or three weeks ago,” she said at the time. “Damien Lillard had this thing called a 4Bar challenge on NBATV and he spit four bars. At the end of what he spit, he was like, ‘Now I challenge Grant Hill [and Kristen Ledlow]…’ It was something that was fun to do. Music and Sports kind of go hand-in-hand.

“Grant Hill hit me up and was like, ‘You know my rapping skills aren’t that good so, I want to ask you if you would write me four bars for this 4Bar challenge.’ I was like, ‘Of course!’ Grant Hill was my favorite basketball player coming up. I’m a big Duke fan. When I started playing ball at age 8, that was my idol.”

She continued: “He texted me out the blue and I’m reading the text and just dropped the phone. He was like, ‘I’m gonna go a little bit longer. Give me eight [bars].’ I wrote it. I did a voice memo so he could hear it and that was it. That’ll be one of my favorite moments ever.”

Grant Hill isn’t the only former basketball player who has skills behind the mixing board. NBA Hall of Famer Chris Webber has produced for Nas, according to All Music, while Dallas Mavericks center JaVale McGee has a plethora of music of his own and production credits on Justin Bieber and A$AP Ferg tracks, per Genius.

Meanwhile, Cam’ron recently roasted NBA star Jordan Poole over his rumored $500,000 date with Ice Spice.

During an episode of his sports talk show It Is What It Is last week, Cam called out the Golden State Warriors guard over his performances in the playoffs, while referencing a recent report about him spending half a million dollars on a date with the buzzing Bronx rapper.

“Jordan Poole, you spent $500,000 on an Ice Spice date,” he began. “You’re a munch and you’re playing like a fucking munch. This is not you from last year, bro. Go back to Milwaukee and figure it the fuck out and get back in the playoffs ’cause you look crazy.

“‘Cause I had your back last year. You got n-ggas out here talking ’bout, ‘What was all that Jordan Poole you was poppin’?’ You fuckin a munch. Nah, he’s a munch, ’cause I had his back.”
