Cam’ron gave Brooklyn Nets star forward Kevin Durant the title of best basketball player in the world during a concert at the Apollo Theater over the weekend.

Footage from the show on Saturday night (January 28) saw Killa Cam and KD embracing one another before the show and posing for a few quick photos backstage. During the show, the Dipset leader took a minute out of the show with Jadakiss and Mase to shout out the two-time NBA champion and made a pretty bold claim about his basketball skills.

According to Cam, Kevin Durant is the best basketball player in the world, and the rapper isn’t taking any arguments.

“Shoutout to my n-gga Kevin Durant in the spot man, we going to shout out KD,” Cam said. “We got the best player in the world in the building tonight, nigga; let’s be clear on that. The best in the world fuck is you talking about.”

Cam’ron has a very strong friendship with the prolific NBA scorer. The two hangout whenever they get the chance, with Cam posting some of their hangouts on social media. In 2021, the rapper copped KD an iced-out Diplomats chain featuring the iconic Dipset eagle logo dripping in diamonds.

In November 2022, Cam jokingly tried to claim a bench role with the Nets when he hung out with KD and his friend Rich Kleiman, but the 13-time All-Star ignored the request. Cam’ron will also come to the defense of his friend whenever need be like he did at the start of the NBA season.

The Nets had a tumultuous start to the season and Cam set his sights on Ben Simmons’ subpar play in an Instagram post as a way to vent his frustrations.

“Look I’m gonna be real brief and short, pause. Ben Simmons, stop wasting my n-ggas’ time,” Cam said, referring to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. “I’m dead fucking serious. Stop playing with my n-ggas man. You’ve got n-ggas playing two-on-fucking-five out there. Stop playing with n-ggas, man.”

Cam also wanted everyone to know that the message came straight from him and not from Simmons’ teammates Durant or Irving.

“KD, Kyrie, I know ya’ll may not approve this message,” the rapper said. “This isn’t on them. This is on me. Stop playing with my n-ggas! Real talk, man. If you don’t want to play basketball, go do what the fuck you want to do. Stop playing with n-ggas man! That shit got me mad! I could suit up and get two points, six fouls.”
