C-Murder Goes On Hunger Strike As ‘Inhumane’ Prison Conditions Take Toll On His Health

C-Murder has revealed that he’s currently engaged in a hunger strike to protest the “inhumane” conditions and health standards he’s endured in the Louisiana penal system.

The former No Limit Records rapper spoke out on his Instagram account on Thursday (March 2) to expose the alleged neglect and abuse at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center as he remains on a hunger strike that began on February 23.

“Jan. 17, 2023, marked 21 years I Corey Miller have been in the Louisiana Penal system,” he wrote. “I have been fighting for my health and freedom against this wrongful conviction and simultaneously fighting for my constitutional rights that were stripped away and violated by the penal system of Louisiana. An appeal was filed late December of 2022 and the DA & Judge of Louisiana has 30 days from Feb. 7, 2023 to answer.

“Because Conditions in the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center have not improved, I am engaging in a hunger strike that began on February 23rd of 2023, to bring awareness to me and all inmates’ neglected and abused at the hands of the Louisiana penal system.”

C-Murder added that his health has quickly declined while behind bars due to him not having access to the necessary medical treatment. However, he made clear he remains committed to his hunger strike.

“It is imperative, NOW MORE THAN EVER, that a quick strategic move is made as my health has significantly declined due to the prison system’s inhumane conditions and I am not getting proper medical treatment,” he continued. “This has taking a major toll on me but I refuse to give up. Please Stand with me.”

C-Murder (born Corey Miller) is currently serving a life sentence and has been behind bars for over 21 years after being found guilty of murdering 16-year-old Steve Thompson in 2002.

In a joint statement, C-Murder’s publicist, Lisa Jackson, and manager, Steven Johnson, called on Kim Kardashian — who has previously voiced her support — to help bring more awareness to their client’s protest and subsequent appeal.

They also shed light on Murder’s health issues, saying: “Recently, Mr. Miller mysteriously passed out. He received no follow up medical care in response to this event and because Mr. Miller asked for and did not receive an investigation of circumstances of his passing out, he was placed in solitary confinement in retaliation for his health crisis.

“Corey Miller continues to suffer with chronic dental issues that have led to significant weight loss and has been denied much needed Thyroid medications because the state of Louisiana says they cannot obtain the necessary medications.”

This isn’t the first time C-Murder has used a hunger strike to bring awareness to his prison woes. He ” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”>previously forwent food in early 2018 due to the “inhumane” conditions at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.

He also went on another hunger strike in August 2021 to expose the unsanitary conditions and COVID-19 quarantine protocols inside Elayn Hunt, where he was later transferred to.
