Boyz N Da Hood Re-Forms As “2.0” With C-Bo, Lil Keke & Allstar Da Great

Block Ent.’s Boyz N Da Hood has been a group instrumental in the careers of Young Jeezy, Gorilla Zoe and Jody Breeze. Like A Tribe Called Quest and The Outlawz, the group has been known for their album-to-album personnel changes. After 2005’s self-titled album released through Bad Boy Records, Young Jeezy left the group to pursue a solo career. 2007’s Back Up n Da Chevy followed, with Gorilla Zoe replacing Jeezy.

Over three years since the group’s last release, and Block Ent now partnering with E1 Entertainment instead of Bad Boy, it has been reported that the entire Boyz N Da Hood group has been replaced. OnSmash.com reports that Block Ent. has created Boyz N Da Hood 2.0, a trio consisting of Sacramento, California veteran C-Bo, Houston, Texas’ Lil Keke and New Jersey rapper Allstar Da Great.

There is no word on when the full-length will materialize. However, late last month, C-Bo mentioned some upcoming “shocking news” when speaking to HipHopDX. The rapper, who just released Thug Money with Thug Lordz partner Yukmouth, has worked with the likes of 2Pac, Young Buck and Keak da Sneak. One of the last original members of the Screwed Up Click, Lil Keke is widely considered a Screw music pioneer, with his regional hit “Pimpin’ Da Pen,” which appeared on numerous DJ Screw tapes. More recently, Keke signed with Swishahouse Records, where he released 2008’s Loved By Few, Hated By Many.

There is no word what will happen to Big Gee, Jody Breeze and Duke. Gorilla Zoe remains a Block artist as he plans to release October 26’s King Kong.

    HipHopDX will keep you updated.

    1. Someone told me Jody Breeze doesn’t even own a car anymore lol. I bet he wishes that deal didn’t fall through

    2. Might be OK, but supergroups almost never work. Seems like a weird mix. And since when was Tribe known for “album-to-album personnel changes”? Jarobi, that’s it. Should’ve said Geto Boys.

    3. OH BOY!!! C-BO & LIL KEKE have been two of my favorite artists for a long time. Can’t wait to see how this unfolds. That lineup is so so gangsta

    4. i fux with lil keke SUC BABY… my older cousins exposed me to lil keke EVERYBODY DO DA SOUTHSIDE HAHAHA

    5. C-BO is true to the streets!!!!!!!! You’ll find no studio gangsta in him. From the “Gas Chamber” to “Thug Money” that’s 17 years of real talent. Take it from the one who knows him best!(smile)

    6. i don’t care if C Bo is true to the streets he’s just a weak rapper.

Guess what’s the title for this album will be: Thugs United or Thugs For Ever
