Boston Rap Community Mourns The Loss Of T Banga

The Boston Hip-Hop scene suffered a great loss on June 7th when Tim Damrath, known to the Hip-Hop community as T Banga, took his own life. He was 31 years old. Damrath co-founded Banga Brothers Entertainment in 2005, offering services in Hip Hop promotion, event planning and management. Through his passion for Hip Hop and love of the artists he worked with, T Banga would assist up and coming talent and help them connect with other emcees and producers to make music.

Best friend and emcee represented by Banga, Excetera of (The Camp) talks of his close friend’s legacy. “He had a heart of gold and didn’t ask for money or recognition. He just had a passion and helped everyone out,” Excetera explains. Through T Banga, the Camp worked with artists such as Copywrite on 24/7 On the Mic and Pacewon on 100% . Banga held a job at Sports Images in Woburn, Massachusetts and would use his spare time to assist the Boston Hip-Hop community.

A tribute song was made in T Banga’s honor featuring local talent titled “Remember Your Name and a benefit concert will be held this Thursday, July 1st at the Western Front in Cambridge, Massachusetts featuring artists like Slaine, J the S, Brix, and The Camp among many others.

T Banga will truly be missed, but will live on through his contributions to independent Hip Hop.
