Boosie Badazz has pleaded not guilty to a San Diego gun charge that he caught while filming a music video.

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, Boosie (real name Terrance Hatch) pleaded not guilty on Monday (May 15) at a court hearing in the Southern California city.

Two defense attorneys that are representing Boosie Badazz declined to issue a statement on the latest developments in the case after his arraignment. An additional person who was arrested with Boosie wasn’t charged in regards to the incident.

Boosie Badazz is free on $50,000 bail. If he’s convicted of the gun charge, he faces up to three years in prison.

Prior to his not guilty plea, the Baton Rouge rapper issued a stern message to San Diego police, telling them to “suck my dick” while playing a show in the city.

According to WBRZ-TV, the 40-year-old was taken to San Diego County Jail on May 6 and booked on a total of four charges.

These included felon in possession of a firearm, concealed carry weapon in a vehicle, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person and unlisted owner of a registered firearm.

He was reportedly filming a music video with local rapper Bully Three at the time of his arrest. The pair previously collaborated on a song called “How You Wanna Play It?”

Boosie Badazz doesn’t have the best relationship with law enforcement. In August 2022, he gave a few cops a free performance when he was pulled over during a traffic stop, but it didn’t seem like they enjoyed the show.

In a video posted to Boosie’s Instagram account, the Baton Rouge rapper was seen standing outside of his vehicle on the highway, surrounded by police officers.

“They got me pulled over again so I’m finna perform a concert in front of the police,” Boosie said before rapping his signature track acapella.

“You wanna talk shit/ You wanna run your mouth/ You want some gangsta friends at your muthafucking house/ We gonna set this bitch off,” he rapped before catering directly to his audience with his track “Fuck the Police.”

Boosie Badazz was also apprehended in July 2022 for heavy window tint and concealed tags, according to TMZ.

He was in the passenger seat of a black Cadillac SUV at the time he was pulled over, with 19-year-old De’Shun Lawrence in the driver’s seat. After stopping them, police officers claimed they could smell marijuana, leading them to searching the vehicle and finding a bag of weed and a large bag of cash.

That’s when the cops cuffed them and told them to stand at the side of the vehicle, with the whole thing being caught via body cam footage.
