Bon Iver Frontman Says He Was “Wrong” For Contributing To Eminem’s “Kamikaze” LP

After Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon heard the finalized version of “Fall” from Eminem’s surprise Kamikaze album, he took to Twitter to express his regret. The track contains a line about Tyler The Creator, which refers to him as a “faggot.”

Vernon said he wanted to alter the song, but the powers that be refused.

“Was not in the studio for the Eminem track…came from a session with BJ Burton and Mike Will,” he wrote on Friday (August 31). “Not a fan of the message, it’s tired. Asked them to change the track, wouldn’t do it. Thanks for listening to BRM.”

The indie rock artist then vowed to “kill” the track, while simultaneously praising Shady’s rapping skills.

“Eminem is one of the best rappers of all time, there is no doubt,” he wrote. “I have and will respect that. Tho, this is not the time to criticize Youth, it’s the time to listen. To act. It is certainly not the time for slurs.

“Wish they would have listened when we asked them to change it.”

Vernon concludes with, “I was wrong and we are gonna kill this track.”

Em’s line in question goes, “Tyler create nothin’, I see why you called yourself a faggot, bitch/It’s not just ’cause you lack attention/It’s ’cause you worship D12’s balls, you’re sacrilegious/If you’re gonna critique me, you better at least be as good or better.”

Tyler was one of several artists Em targeted on the 13-track project. Joe Budden, Earl Sweatshirt, Lil Pump, Lil Xan and mumble rappers in general all caught Shady’s wrath.

        1. Don’t mind him. Dude hates on Em on all his posts. He’s clearly upset to a point of obsession. Just another salty ass female who needs to vent. Secretly he loves Eminem.

    1. Why is he tryna sensor another artist? And who in their right mind let someone drop a song they contributed to before hearing the final result. Sounds like this guy sogned a bad deal for this song. Personally that shit is fire. I like Tyler but im glad em aint letting nobody talk shit.

      1. Dude is a hyporcrite doing damage control. He said he heard the song, didnt like the lyrics, asked if they could change it, they said no and still he kept his hook on the Song.

      2. Actually, it is quite common for an artist that is being featured on a record with another to not hear the final project before being released.

    2. Tyler called himself and others a fggt all the time. He’s always saying fggt. I’m sorry but this is a reach. It is commonly used in hiphop. People are soft.

      1. Yeah but Rapper calling themselve and others N*gga all the time too but if Em would say the N-Word the outrage would be tremendous. And yeah its kinda the same since Tyler teased multiple times that he might not straight.

    3. He should’ve stayed the fuck out of it if he didn’t know what Eminem was about… Eminem been using that word since his debut LP. Now in 2018 it’s a problem? Motherfucker thought he was working with Will Smith or something? Get your snowflake butt outta here

    4. Both Em and Tyler have had probably hundreds of f.ag words played on their albums uncensored. How come its 2018 and suddenly it gets censored? Seriously, I’ve been reading about the lyric all day, but when I went to hear the song the word is silenced out, it just happens to be super obvious what he said. Everyone has gotten so soft.

    5. They censored it themselves to be clever. It wasn’t censored by Apple or anyone.
Also he never calls Tyler a f—got. Read it again

    6. What the F did he expect? Eminem have said this word atleast once on every single album he’s done throughout his career! But he said it ‘’one of the best rappers of all time’’… so when he asks you to do work on his album you jump on it but when it comes out you try to justify it to your community like you didn’t know it was coming! Get the hell outta of here!
