Apparently, the newest trend in R&B is to rap.
Following in the footsteps of fellow R&B singers, DTP’s Bobby V wants to try his hand at emceeing. For some reason, each singer has also found a nickname for their rapping alter egos. Mary has Brook Lynn. Tyrese has Black Ty. Now, Bobby V has BV.
According to BV, the rapping came about due to necessity.
[Rappers are] singing on their hooks, we need to rap too…Because they’re doing all of the singing, they’re taking all of the singers away, he said in a recent interview with Vibe.
Thats not the only reason hes rapping. The singer also opened up about his love for the art of the freestyle.
I like to rap…I’m a great freestyler. I always freestyle with my homeboys, he continued in the article.
Expect to hear Bobby Vrhyming and singing on his next release Special Occasion. The album is said to feature producers such as Rodney Jerkins, Dre & Vidal and more.
The album is scheduled for a September 19 release.
