Black History Month Celebration to Include Common, Ludacris, Others

On Saturday, February 21, Hip Hop 101 Music & Arts Festival will celebrate Black History Month at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The event, which is expected to pack over four hours of non-stop Hip Hop into one night, will include performances from Ludacris [click to read], Common [click to read], Keri Hilson, Janelle Monae, and Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys.

Along with the star-studded performers, Hip Hop 101 will also provide audience members with a live graffiti art exhibition, an “old school” visual jam film detailing the earlier days of Hip Hop, as well as a dance competition made possible by Millennium Dance Complex. The winning dancer from the competition will be rewarded with a scholarship through Hip Hop 101 Music Arts & Festival.

With so many facets of Hip Hop culture being integrated into one event, executive producer Ken Andrews explained the significance of a nightly line up that is too rare these days.

Hip Hop 101 Music & Arts Festival is our way to acknowledge the achievements of every artist by creating a platform and embracing Hip Hop’s culture and unity through the expression of music, beats, graffiti, visual arts, performing arts and lyrics.”
